Ride A Pet gives every pet four defining stats: hatch chance, starting speed, starting jump, and starting income. Appearance offers little help in judging a pet. Sorting the collection by those values reveals a clear progression, from the Snail available in your first minutes to endgame mounts with hatch odds in the quintillions.
Quick answer: For speed and jump, Kitsune is the top pet overall. If income is your sole priority, choose Dragon, which earns the most.
What each pet stat means
Open any pet’s stats card and you see the same set of values. Base weight sits at 10kg across the entire roster, so it never separates one pet from another. Read the other four and ignore weight entirely.
- Hatch chance — how often a pet appears, from 1 in 2 up to millions or more to one.
- Base speed — determines how far you can advance across the map: faster pets can reach eggs that are rarer and farther away.
- Base jump — vertical reach, which opens elevated egg routes that raw speed cannot.
- Base income — the percent increase applied to your earnings for as long as the pet is equipped.
For most pets, better hatch odds go hand in hand with greater speed, but there are exceptions. Some rank above or below what their rarity might suggest, making those outliers smart choices. A mutation scales up a pet’s base speed, so a mutated mid-ranked pet can pass an unmutated pet of greater rarity.

Add to Google Preferences →Best pets: Kitsune and Dragon
Kitsune leads on both speed and jump at the same time, which makes it the pet to keep equipped once you have it. With a base speed of 1B and a 170 jump, it clears the fastest routes and the highest eggs the map holds. If you are chasing the rarest eggs, this is the mount to aim for.
Dragon leads all pets in income, with a base income of 300,000,000. That makes it the one to equip for a session focused on cash instead of covering ground. In a direct comparison for ordinary progression, Kitsune comes out on top.

Midgame mounts worth equipping (Kangaroo to Ostrich)
Ostrich tops this bracket, delivering the ladder’s most pronounced income boost at 750% and the highest speed in its group. The cost is a jump of just 86, making its vertical reach far lower than the others’.
For dependable upgrades through the middle of the game, turn to Shark, Wolf, and Horse. Their stats have no unusual twists: each outdoes every pet below it in speed and income while keeping a decent jump, so they work well for long stretches.
Snake and Gorilla have greater rarity than Spider and Deer, but gain only in speed and income; both still have a jump below 100. Crocodile marks the transition from the early ranks to the middle of the list.
Spider and Kangaroo: rarity that beats its odds
Spider is the ranking’s most striking outlier. Its hatch odds are 1 in 25K, much better than Gorilla’s or Snake’s, yet its 129 jump leads every pet in this bracket. That extra height opens routes speed alone cannot reach, making Spider unusually valuable for its hatch chance.
Kangaroo fills this role a tier sooner: its hatch rate is 1 in 3K, making it more common than Deer, and its jump is 125 compared with Deer’s 111. Deer has a slight lead in speed and income, placing it a little higher, but Kangaroo is the stronger choice when elevated eggs are still hard to reach.
Early progression pets (Capybara to Panda)
Elephant marks a major milestone: it is the first pet on the ladder with base speed above 1,000. Its jump is just 75, the lowest in this group, so equipping it can leave some vertical routes out of reach.
With 50% income, Panda is the final pet in this bracket before values jump into the thousands. Pig, Chicken, and Capybara are incremental steps, each adding a little speed and income over its predecessor; replace them when a rarer egg becomes available.
The pets to replace first (Snail to Koala)
Snail ranks last by every measure, with 15 base speed and 3% income. In practice, Turtle, Sloth, and Axolotl are hard to tell apart from it, and all three have single-digit income.
Koala is an outlier: its 300 speed and 95 jump are solid for a pet available so early, but its 5% income leaves it among the lowest group. Consider it a lateral change, not an upgrade.
When a pet’s speed reaches the thousands, the pets in this bracket have no practical use beyond completing your index.
How to check a pet before you commit
Before equipping a pet, open it in the Index or Pets menu and check its stats card. The card shows base weight, hatch chance, base income, base jump, and base speed, letting you compare pets directly without judging by appearance. If the new card’s speed is below the value of your equipped pet, it’s a downgrade, no matter how rare its egg was.
You can push base stats higher with mutations. Pets have a chance to receive a Gold, Diamond, or Rainbow mutation when their eggs hatch, and picking up eggs from the map during a weather event adds mutations on top. To raise how often good pets appear, upgrade hatch luck at the ranch’s upgrade board. Filling slots in the Index also pays out cash milestones as you register new pets.
The roster grows with updates, so a snapshot of stats can shift after a patch. When numbers change, the in-game stat card remains the reliable check, so compare cards before committing your mount slot and keep a spare copy of your best pet as a fresh mutation target.
