SCROOMS: How to Get Into the Bluestone Caverns (Beyond the Grove)

Reaching the Bluestone Caverns in SCROOMS is the payoff of the main quest Beyond the Grove, which asks only one thing of you: “Find your way into the Bluestone Caverns.” There is no arrow and no map to follow. You walk out of Songkeeper’s Grove on foot, cross a wide gap at the cave mouth using a pair of boots, and the second area opens up on the other side.

Quick answer: Equip the Songtreads, follow the path into the Bluestone Approach to the blue cave mouth, then run at the gap and jump: the boots give the speed that carries you across. Landing inside completes Beyond the Grove.

What you need before you go: the Songtreads

The way in is built around the Songtreads, a pair of boots that makes you run much faster and turns a running jump into a long one. Beyond the Grove only begins after Songwalker Shax hands them over, and that handover sits at the end of a short chain of quests in Songkeeper’s Grove.

  • Once you reach level 25, head back to Halden (Tamer in Training).
  • Speak to Songwalker Shax (A Leg Up).
  • Beat Shax in his race (Quick on Your Feet).
  • Collect the Songtreads from Shax, which starts Beyond the Grove.

Halden spells out why the boots matter: “You’ll need some proper momentum to jump over those ledges at the entrance.” The quest card for Beyond the Grove says the same: with the Songtreads, the ledges at the entrance to the Bluestone Caverns should not stop you. Once they are in your bag, you are ready to make the trip.

Finding the way through the Bluestone Approach

Clicking the tracked quest does nothing, so ignore the quest card and walk. The route out of Songkeeper’s Grove runs through a corner of the grove called the Bluestone Approach, where the green lawns stop and the ground turns to dark purple-blue stone.

Head toward the edge of the grove until a banner reads “Bluestone Approach” with the line “The trees thin as the path winds toward the cold stone of the caverns beyond.” That banner confirms you are on the right path.

Follow the stone ledges forward along the pale grey stone path, past patches of grass sitting on stone shelves. If you come from the waterfall side, you may pass a separate named corner, “The Verdant Grotto,” marked with a lyre’s soft notes. That is not the way to the caverns, so keep going until the Bluestone Approach banner is the one you have seen.

Continue until you reach a grassy shelf facing a glowing blue cave entrance. Large blue crystals frame the opening, and lanterns and flat stones are visible inside. A broad gap separates your perch from the entrance—the obstacle Halden warned you about.

Crossing the gap with the Songtreads

The gap is wide, and this is where the boots come in. The Songtreads make you run much faster, and a jump taken at that speed carries far. That run-up is the whole trick to getting across.

Open your backpack with G. The Songtreads are the first tile, marked “Core Item,” with the description “Summon a pair of boots that enhance your movement through the song!” Select them.

Face the cave mouth and run at the gap with W. Build up to the edge so you leave your ledge with speed.
Jump with Space at the edge. One press is enough: in our tests, pressing Space again in the air did nothing, and a new jump only starts after you land. Our crossing took about three seconds of running and jumping, then a couple more jumps on the far side.

A running jump with the Songtreads carries the character across the gap and into the glowing cave entrance.

Take a long run-up so you reach the edge at full speed. If you fall short, re-select the Songtreads in the backpack: they come off when you take out another item.

How you know Beyond the Grove is complete

The instant you land in the cave mouth, the area banner changes to “Bluestone Caverns” with the line “The sound of metal striking rock resonates throughout the dense cavern air,” and “Quest Completed: Beyond the Grove” appears on screen.

The payout arrives with the crossing: Beyond the Grove grants 2,925 XP and 500 Chimes. Your Chimes total rises from 11,135 to 11,635, and the character advances from level 33 to level 34.

Landing inside flips the banner to Bluestone Caverns and marks Beyond the Grove complete.

A line then reads “Marnie might have something for me now.” No new main quest starts on its own at this point, and the Quest Log shows only “Completed (7)” afterward.

First steps inside: Marina and the Fungstone

The first room is dark blue stone, studded with big blue crystals and red-brown rock slabs, lit by torches on stone posts and crossed by wooden scaffolds. A few steps in from where you land, Marina sits on a bench in a yellow hard hat with a question mark floating over her.

Speak to her to pick up the side quest New Ground, which asks you to “Catch and give Marina a Fungstone” for 420 XP and 130 Chimes. The Fungstone is a Common scroom native to the Bluestone Caverns, and the first song you play beside Marina is enough to catch one. Hand it over, and you have your footing in the second area.
