Weather in SCROOMS is not just background. When the Pale Moon rolls in, it changes what you are likely to catch, and the small icon in the corner tells you it is active. Here is exactly what it does and how to make the most of it while it lasts.
Quick answer: During a Pale Moon, tone scrooms are twice as likely, and, in the game’s words, “the rarer scrooms seem drawn to it”. Keep catching in place while the moon-and-stars x2 icon shows in the bottom-left corner.
Where to see the weather in SCROOMS
The weather indicator is in the lower-left HUD, in the box immediately after the clock. The clock uses a sun or moon symbol to show the time of day, putting the time and weather next to each other.
So far, the weather panel has displayed three symbols: a rain-bearing cloud, a cloud crossing the sun, and the Pale Moon. Its symbol is a starry moon with a small x2 in one corner.
Click the weather panel to see the effect of the active conditions. This confirms whether the symbol indicates a Pale Moon instead of leaving you to rely on its appearance alone. SCROOMS can be played on Roblox.

Clicking the weather box during a Pale Moon brings up three lines of text:

Pale Moon
Tones are twice as likely
The rarer scrooms seem drawn to it…
Two effects come out of that text. Tones are twice as likely to appear, which is what the x2 on the icon is pointing to. On top of that, the game hints that the rarer scrooms show up more often while the moon is out. It does not give an exact rate for rare scrooms, so treat that line as a steer rather than a stated rate.
What tones are in SCROOMS
The “tones” the Pale Moon doubles are special scroom versions. There are three of them: Melodic, Harmonic and Resonant. A tone shows as a word above the scroom’s own name, so a tone version of Florabella appears as Melodic Florabella, for example.

Because the Pale Moon says tones are twice as likely, this is the weather to be out catching if you are chasing Melodic, Harmonic or Resonant versions of a scroom you already know.
The rare-scroom effect in practice
During a Pale Moon, a Funglebee appeared quickly on the grass beneath the beehives of Jones the beekeeper in Songkeeper’s Grove. This Wondrous scroom showed up in the first six songs at 31.5 Hz; elsewhere in the grove, roughly 400 songs under other weather conditions had produced none.

That is a single catch, and the spot was also different from the earlier songs, so take it as a hint that lines up with the game’s own text rather than proof of a fixed rate.

The x2 is weather, not a Robux boost
The x2 on the Pale Moon icon can look like a purchased multiplier, but nothing was bought to get it. It is the weather itself. That is separate from the Store’s Server Luck, which costs 19 Robux and reads 1x -> 2x. A Pale Moon gives its own effect with no item involved.
What to do when the Pale Moon is up
When you spot the moon-and-stars x2 icon, stay where you are and keep catching rather than travelling to another area or stopping to sell. The doubled tone chance and the pull on rarer scrooms both apply while the icon is showing, so time spent catching counts for more than usual.
Check the weather box from time to time so you catch the moment the Pale Moon ends and the icon changes back. Make the most of it while it is there.
