The Maximum is a unique long-range rifle in the Cost of Hope expansion for Stalker 2, based on the SVU-MK S-3 platform. It sits in a locked room inside the Module IB building in the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant (CNPP) region, and you can claim it no matter which faction you side with.
Quick answer: Enter the CNPP, go to the Module IB building, climb to the second floor, open the keypad door with the code 2014, and take the Maximum off the workbench inside.

Requirements before you go for the Maximum
The CNPP is the final region of the Zone, so you need main-story progress before the door code matters. You must reach the CNPP through the main quest “The Road to the Center of the Storm.” Until that quest opens the area, you cannot enter Module IB.
The Module IB building carries high radiation. Wear a SEVA-based suit or something better so you can survive long enough inside to reach the second floor and loot the room.
Note: The Maximum is faction-independent. You do not have to commit to Mavka/Freedom or Zulu/Duty to collect it, which makes it a safe pickup on any playthrough.

2014. The door unlocks immediately, giving you access to the room.
You do not need to hunt down the “Map of CNPP Monolith Stashes” document to open this door. That document reveals the same code from a safe on the roof of Turbine Hall, but typing 2014 directly works without it.
Maximum weapon stats
The Maximum is a sniper/marksman rifle with a relatively high rate of fire for its class and solid damage. It arrives with a few modifications already attached, including a silencer, and uses 7.62×54 ammunition.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Damage | 3.3 |
| Handling | 2.5 |
| Rate of Fire | 1.3 |
| Range | 4.3 |
| Accuracy | 3.8 |
| Weight | 5.462 |
| Caliber | 7.62×54 |
The high Range value makes it a strong pick for the long-range slot, while its rate of fire lets it handle tougher mutants faster than a typical bolt-action marksman rifle. Because it is a late pickup tied to CNPP access, treat it as an endgame addition rather than an early-run weapon.

How to confirm you got it
The Maximum appears in your inventory as soon as you pick it up from the workbench, so there is no automatic transfer to rely on. Loot the surrounding ammo, bandages, and the room’s safe in the same visit, since backtracking through the radiation just to grab leftover supplies is not worth the trip.
