When the Enchanted Forest biome comes to Steal An Egg, it also brings the Enchanted Mutation. No other mutation can be applied to an egg with a guaranteed outcome. During a timed event, catch butterflies and craft their drops into Enchanted Essence; use it on an egg while it is still unhatched.
Quick answer: Unlock the Enchanted Tree by completing Wisp’s three quests, claim the Butterfly Net inside, catch 240 Emerald, 115 Sapphire, 40 Amethyst, and 1 Radiant Butterfly during Butterfly Bloom, then redeem them at the Enchanted Mutation Shrine for Enchanted Essence.

What you need before you start
Access to the Enchanted Mutation depends entirely on reaching the Enchanted Forest and clearing its progression gate. Nothing here can be skipped, since butterflies will not even appear for you until the Enchanted Tree is open and the net is in your inventory.
- At least 50 billion Speed, the current highest requirement in the game, to outrun the Enchanted Forest guardian and reach the biome.
- The Wisp NPC, which only spawns once you have 50 billion Speed and appears marked by a yellow circle.
- The Butterfly Net, claimed free inside the Enchanted Tree’s secret room.

The Enchanted Tree sits behind the Enchanted Forest boss, and its entrance stays sealed until you raise the Wisp through its three quests. Find the Wisp near the start of the biome and interact with it to begin.

Finishing all three quests brings the Wisp to Stage 4. Return it to the Enchanted Tree and interact with the door to break the seal and open the secret area permanently.
Claim the Butterfly Net
Step onto the glowing circle at the center of the Enchanted Tree’s interior to receive the Butterfly Net. It costs nothing and is required to catch butterflies. Equip it so it is ready when the event starts.
Butterfly Bloom won’t provide any butterflies to catch unless you’ve opened the Enchanted Tree and collected the net beforehand. If either step is incomplete, the event will end without anything to catch.

Catch butterflies during Butterfly Bloom
Butterfly Bloom runs in the Enchanted Forest roughly every 30 minutes. When it begins, travel through the biome and swing the net at the butterflies that appear. There are four tiers, and the essence recipe needs all of them.
- Emerald Butterfly
- Sapphire Butterfly
- Amethyst Butterfly
- Radiant Butterfly
Emerald Butterflies are the most common, while the Radiant Butterfly is rare and can appear in the wild during a bloom. Keep catching across multiple blooms, since one essence takes a large stack of the lower tiers.

Convert butterflies at the Conversion Center
If you are short on a higher tier, trade lower-tier butterflies up at the Conversion Center inside the Enchanted Tree. This is the only way to build a Radiant Butterfly without catching one in the wild.
| Trade in | You receive |
|---|---|
| 10 Emerald Butterflies | 1 Sapphire Butterfly |
| 10 Sapphire Butterflies | 1 Amethyst Butterfly |
| 50 Amethyst Butterflies | 1 Radiant Butterfly |
Craft Enchanted Essence at the Enchanted Mutation Shrine
Once your counts meet the recipe, bring the butterflies to the Enchanted Mutation Shrine inside the Enchanted Tree and redeem them. The full cost of one Enchanted Essence is below.
| Butterfly | Amount |
|---|---|
| Emerald Butterfly | 240 |
| Sapphire Butterfly | 115 |
| Amethyst Butterfly | 40 |
| Radiant Butterfly | 1 |
With all four stacks submitted, the shrine produces one Enchanted Essence and the shrine will confirm the craft rather than showing a “Need More Butterflies” prompt. That prompt appears whenever any single count is still short.

Apply the mutation and confirm it worked
Use the Enchanted Essence on an egg that has not hatched yet. The essence gives a 100% chance to apply the Enchanted Mutation, unlike event mutation shards, which only carry a 10% chance. The egg’s shell takes on the mutation, and the pet hatches with the Enchanted variant and a blue crystalline look.
Because the result is guaranteed, save each essence for a high-value or large-weight egg rather than a throwaway. The Enchanted Mutation applies roughly a 2.5x multiplier to base income, and it stacks with other mutations already on the pet, so a big egg can hatch carrying several boosts at once.
Mutation and size are separate multipliers, so fusing up a heavy egg first and then applying the essence gives you the largest payout from a single craft.
