The Pumpkin Reaper is a boss from the Halloween Update in Steal Animal Egg, and it lives behind a rift portal that opens on a fixed timer. The fight runs on two tracks at once. You dodge a giant scythe-swinging boss while you keep a turret in the middle of the arena alive against waves of minions. Win, and you get Candy Coins to spend at the Candy Shop.
Quick answer: Enter the Halloween Rift when it opens at :00 or :30 past the hour, clear minions off the turret, hit the boss during its stuck windows, and destroy the sky targets during the Moon attack.

Halloween Rift spawn times and locations
The Halloween Rift shares a schedule with the Glitch Rift. The two take turns every 30 minutes, so one of them opens at the top of each hour and one at the half hour. If you just missed a Halloween Rift, the next one is an hour away, not 30 minutes.
- Spawn times: XX:00 or XX:30, alternating with the Glitch Rift
- Location: any Steal Animal Egg zone, including Chicken Farm
- Who can join: every player on the server
- Alert: a server-wide message naming the zone the rift opened in
A JOIN NOW timer hovers over the portal. Its duration has no clear pattern, so head in as soon as the warning appears.

The Pumpkin Reaper goes hostile the instant you land in the arena. There’s no warm-up period, so be ready to move as soon as the screen loads.
Pumpkin Reaper HP and turret stats
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Base boss HP | 100,000 |
| Extra HP per additional player | +40,000 |
| Phase 2 trigger | Boss at half health |
| Turret HP | 1000/1000 |
The scaling counts every player in the arena besides you, so a solo run faces 100,000 HP and a duo faces 140,000. In practice the health bar doesn’t always line up neatly with that formula. Totals like 190,000 have shown up, and the bar can change size when Phase 2 begins, so read the bar in front of you rather than doing math mid-fight.

Pumpkin Reaper Phase 1 attacks
Phase 1 is a rhythm. The boss runs through an attack sequence, you dodge it, and then you punish it. Standing still is how you die here, because several of its moves track your position.
Slams and scythe sweeps
Heavy slams and scythe sweeps are area attacks, and each one lights up its impact zone on the floor before it lands. That warning gives you enough time to step out. Once the sequence ends, close in and hit the boss.
Homing attacks and exploding pumpkins
Certain attacks track their target and deal heavy damage, so stay in motion while attacking. The boss can also call forth pumpkins that glow with a ghostly light. They explode a few seconds later, badly hurting anyone nearby, so retreat immediately when one appears.
Fire tiles and the stuck window
Fire tiles hurt you, but they can also trap the boss. When fire pins the Pumpkin Reaper in place, the arena flashes STUCK! HIT HIM! This is the best damage window in the fight. Your hits show an x1.5 multiplier, and a Totality meter charges while you attack the trapped boss. Mini challenges also pop up during the fight, so complete them as they appear.
Turret defense and the Reaper Slayer title
The white-and-yellow turret in the middle of the arena fires at the boss nonstop, but only while it’s standing. The Pumpkin Reaper knows this and sends skeletons, pumpkins, ghosts, and other minions after it. Clear each wave as it arrives, then get back to the boss.
The turret is capable of defeating the boss on its own, but it takes a while; adding your own weapon damage speeds up the fight considerably. Protecting the turret matters more for the reward: you earn the Reaper Slayer title if you defeat the Pumpkin Reaper before the turret is destroyed. If it goes down before the final hit, the title is not awarded.

Pumpkin Reaper Phase 2 and the Moon attack
When the boss drops to half health, a PHASE 2 banner appears as cannons fire. From here, the Pumpkin Reaper attacks more often and hits harder. Fire tiles spread across more of the floor, and the scythe attacks keep coming, so you’ll be moving more than you’re swinging.
Phase 2 also adds special attacks. The Moon attack can kill you outright. When it starts, objects appear in the sky alongside a HIT THE MOON counter that starts at 0/10. Destroy all of the sky objects within a few seconds, or the attack takes all of your health.
You’ll know the fight is over when the screen shows PUMPKIN REAPER HAS BEEN DEFEATED! You then respawn back in the zone where the rift opened.
Pumpkin Reaper rewards and Candy Shop prices
Defeating the boss pays out 5,000 Candy Coins, and finishing the rift also awards a 1.5x Zone 14 Egg. Check your Candy Coin balance after each win before planning purchases, since that is the number that actually counts.
Spend the coins at the Candy Shop in the main lobby. It sits next to the Trails Shop and is easy to spot thanks to its pumpkin decorations and purple witch-hat roof. The shop has separate tabs for the Haunted Egg and potions, and there’s no purchase limit beyond your balance.
| Candy Shop item | Cost (Candy Coins) |
|---|---|
| Haunted Egg | 1,500 |
| x2 Egg Growth potion | 975 |
| x5 Cash potion | 825 |
| x5 Speed Gain potion | 750 |
| x2 Walkspeed potion | 450 |
Each potion lasts 15 minutes. A single 5,000-coin win covers three Haunted Eggs with coins left over, or a mix of eggs and potions.

Haunted Egg hatch rates
| Pet | Hatch rate |
|---|---|
| Smol Bat Kid | 40% |
| Smol Mummy | 28% |
| Smol Skeleton | 18% |
| Smol Little Devil | 10% |
| Smol Pumpkin Reaper | 4% |
Two out of three hatches will be a Smol Bat Kid or Smol Mummy. The Smol Pumpkin Reaper, the boss’s own mini version, is the rare pull at 4 percent, so getting it usually takes several Pumpkin Reaper clears’ worth of Candy Coins.
