Mutations are the difference between a locker full of junk and a single item that pays for your next ten auctions. Every mutation is a tag that lands on an item after you win a bid and start unpacking a container, and each tag changes the price that item sells for. Most push the value up. One quietly drags it down. Knowing which is which before you hit sell is the whole game.
Quick answer: Rainbow is the highest mutation at 100x, Secret (50x) and Void (35x) sit just under it, Dirty (0.8x) is the only mutation that lowers an item’s value, and Black currently can’t be obtained at all, so there’s no point farming it.

Every mutation and its multiplier
Here is the full list of mutations, sorted from the lowest multiplier to the highest, along with where each one comes from. A couple of entries scale with the item’s price rather than using a flat number, and those are marked as such.

| Showcase | Bonus Luck while on display | Museum Gift |
Showcase is the odd one out. Instead of raising a sale price, it grants bonus Luck while the item is on display, so it feeds back into your odds of rolling everything else on the list.

Add to Google Preferences →How multiple mutations combine
A single item can carry more than one mutation, which is where the real money hides. The practical rule most players use is that the multipliers add together rather than multiply. An item that rolls Silver (2x) and Gold (4x) comes out at 6x, not 8x. Get that backward and you will badly over- or under-value your best finds, and possibly overpay to win the locker they came in.
There is one wrinkle worth flagging. Community documentation lists the combination as multiplicative, meaning the same Silver plus Gold pairing would read as 8x. If you are trying to pin down an exact sale price on a heavily stacked item, treat the additive rule as your working assumption and verify against the item’s actual sell value in-game, since the mutation multiplier is applied to the base value before condition affects the final price.
Which mutations to keep and which to dump
Dirty is the only roll you actively want to avoid. At 0.8x it sells for less than the same item would clean, so never overpay for one just because it looks unusual. Black shows up on the list but cannot be farmed right now, so chasing it wastes runs.
At the top end, Rainbow (100x), Secret (50x), and Void (35x) are the jackpots. One item with any of these attached can outsell an entire haul of ordinary auction wins, so hold it, check for stacking, and only then sell. Just below them, Hologram (15x), Chrome (12x), and Timeless (12x) are far more common while still landing in double digits, which makes them the reliable earners.
Note: don’t dismiss the small positive rolls. A 2x or 3x tag sitting on a genuinely high-value item can out-earn a big multiplier stuck on cheap junk, so always weigh the mutation against what the item is actually worth.

Event mutations tied to weather and world events
Some mutations only appear while a specific event is running, so timing your auctions around them matters. Luck Drinks can raise the odds during these windows.
| Event | Mutations (chance) | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Moonlit | Moonlit 1.5x (4%), Firefly 5x (0.1%) | 4 minutes |
| Rain | Wet 1.4x (4.5%), Shocked 6x (0.29%) | 8 minutes |
| Acid Rain | Shares Wet and Shocked, plus Acid (10%) and Caustic (0.5%) | — |
| Sandstorm | Sandy 2.25x (3.5%), Dune 12.5x (0.2%) | — |
| Alien Invasion | Probed 4x (4.5%), Abducted 10x (1%), Extraterrestrial 25x (0.25%) | Until the invasion ends |
| Police | Redacter 1.25x, Seized 15x | — |
Acid Rain draws from the same Wet and Shocked pool as a normal Rain event at identical odds. Acid and Caustic are the only mutations exclusive to Acid Rain itself, and both scale with the item’s price rather than using a fixed multiplier.
Washing and Time Capsule mutations
A few mutations are applied by hand instead of rolled at the container. Washing a Dirty item removes the Dirty tag and gives a chance at Pure or Spotless, or nothing at all. Washing a Mint item has a Luck-based chance to produce Perfect (7.5x).
The Time Capsule, unlocked at $100,000 net worth and found behind the shopping mall, applies one of four mutations to an item you already own. It keeps rolling every 5 minutes until one of the four lands, and only one is applied.
| Time Capsule mutation | Multiplier | Final chance |
|---|---|---|
| Cobwebbed | 1.2x | 80% |
| Antique | 2x | 16% |
| Ancient | 5x | 3.2% |
| Timeless | 12x | 0.8% |

How to improve your mutation odds
Landing rare mutations is mostly luck, but a few things tilt the roll in your favor before you open a single locker.

One quick note on Diamond Safes: since the 0.4.1 update on July 6, 2026, mutations and grades on a Diamond Safe increase the number of diamonds it awards, with rarer mutations and higher grades paying out more. Before that change, a mutation only raised the value of the safe itself and did nothing for the loot inside. Check your inventory now, because you may already be holding a stacked item worth far more than you think.
