The latest quality-of-life patch for Storage Hunters: Open World is heavier than the name suggests. Alongside genuine convenience features like bulk shelf stocking and a cleaning spray vendor, it adds the game’s strongest mutator so far, opens a shop that had been sitting empty since the Police Raid update, and slips a rare disaster event into the Power Plant’s weather machine.
Quick answer: To unlock Onyx, break Mike out of the police station with a Home Carpet and five to six spoons, meet him in the Back Alley, and reach at least 1,575 luck to start his quest. Onyx multiplies item value by 175x.
Everything added in the Storage Hunters QOL update
| Addition | What it does and where |

| New accessory stats | Club Pact, Droughtbreaker, Golden Hour, Mutated Luck, and Temporal Split. |
| Reactor Meltdown | Rare Power Plant event with Radioactive and Nuclear mutators plus mutant fish. |
| Cleaning sprays | Three tiers sold for gems by a new NPC at the Item Cleaning Service. |

Onyx sits at the top of the mutator ladder with a 175x value multiplier, and it is gated behind Mike, the inmate introduced in the Police Raid update. If you already freed him, you can skip straight to the luck requirement.

If the quest does not appear, there are only two likely reasons. Either Mike is still in his cell because the carpet and spoons were never delivered, or your luck total is still under 1,575 when you speak to him.
New accessory stats and Mutated Luck values
Five accessory stats join the pool: Club Pact, Droughtbreaker, Golden Hour, Mutated Luck, and Temporal Split. Mutated Luck is the one that ties directly into the mutator chase, because its bonus scales with the mutator rolled on the accessory itself.
| Mutator | Mutated Luck bonus |
|---|---|
| Silver | +5% Luck |
| Gold | +10% Luck |
| Corrupted | +15% Luck |
| Diamond | +20% Luck |
| Chrome | +25% Luck |
| Hologram | +35% Luck |
| Glitch | +45% Luck |
| Rainbow | +60% Luck |
| Onyx | +75% Luck |
An Onyx accessory rolling Mutated Luck therefore feeds back into the 1,575 luck requirement itself, which is worth keeping in mind if you are still short of the threshold.
Premium Certificate Shop location and upgrade cost
The Premium Certificate building appeared during the Police Raid update but had no working NPC desk. It is now live. You will find it in the pocket of map between Business Bay, Lucky Beach, and the Pyramid.
Inside, a wooden Certificate of Authenticity can be traded up into a Premium Certificate of Authenticity for 150 gems. Certificates apply permanent bonus stats to accessories, so the premium version is the more valuable pairing for any high-tier item you plan to keep.
Reactor Meltdown event at the Power Plant
Venting the weather machine at the Power Plant normally triggers Acid Rain. There is now a small chance it triggers a Reactor Meltdown instead, which runs for roughly four to five minutes.
While a meltdown is active, items can roll the new Radioactive and Nuclear mutators, and mutant fish spawn in the water. Because the trigger is a random outcome of venting rather than a scheduled weather cycle, the only way to farm it is repeated vent attempts.
Cleaning sprays sold at the Item Cleaning Service
A new vendor stands at the Item Cleaning Service selling three tiers of spray for gems. Each spray carries a limited number of uses and raises both the Pure and Spotless chances on the item you clean.
| Spray | Rarity / Cost | Uses | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small Cleaning Spray | Common, 15 gems | 3 | Pure +20%, Spotless +20% |
| Large Cleaning Spray | Rare, 60 gems | 5 | Pure +50%, Spotless +50% |
| Industrial Cleaning Spray | Legendary, 125 gems | 10 | Pure +100%, Spotless +100% |
Buying is done through the Cleaning Bottles menu, where each bottle has its own buy button showing the gem price.

Tip: the Industrial spray works out cheaper per use than the Small one, so it is the better buy if you clean in batches rather than one item at a time.
How to use the Fill All Shelves button in your shop
Stocking a shop used to mean dragging items onto shelves individually. The update adds a Fill All Shelves button that bulk-selects inventory and distributes it across your empty shelf slots in one action.
Open your shop interface from the cart button on the main screen to reach it. The button sits inside that same menu, and you know it worked when the shelves populate without any further placement prompts.

Taken together, the patch pulls in two directions. The sprays and the shelf button shave time off the parts of the loop nobody enjoyed, while Onyx and the Reactor Meltdown push the value ceiling higher for players already deep into luck stacking. Getting there still runs through Mike in the Back Alley, so that 1,575 luck number is the one to work toward first.
