Terraria: How to Get the Lightning Boots

The Lightning Boots are a movement accessory in Terraria that raise your running speed and let you sprint, dash, and hover briefly, all from a single item. They are not found as a drop. You craft them by merging three parts at a Tinkerer’s Workshop.

Find Hermes Boots or Flurry Boots. Both turn up as loot inside chests as you explore, with Hermes Boots common in Underground and Cavern chests.

Stand next to a Tinkerer’s Workshop and combine the Rocket Boots with your Hermes Boots or Flurry Boots to produce Spectre Boots.

Note: The Tinkerer’s Workshop itself is bought from the Goblin Tinkerer, so rescuing that NPC covers both the Rocket Boots and the crafting station.

Collect the Aglet and Anklet of the Wind

The two remaining pieces are chest loot, so they come down to exploring the right areas.

Open wooden chests near the surface and in shallow underground pockets to find an Aglet. It is a small speed accessory that shows up early in most worlds.

Head into the Underground Jungle and search its chests for the Anklet of the Wind. This biome sits beneath the surface Jungle and holds the accessory in its buried chests.

Combine everything at the Tinkerer’s Workshop

Once you hold Spectre Boots, the Aglet, and the Anklet of the Wind at the same time, the final craft takes seconds.

Place all three items in your inventory and stand beside a Tinkerer’s Workshop.

Open the crafting menu and select Lightning Boots from the available recipes, then craft them.

You know it worked when the three ingredients disappear and a single pair of Lightning Boots lands in your inventory. Equip them in an accessory slot to gain the boosted running speed and short hover.

If the recipe does not appear, it is almost always because you are missing one ingredient, you are not standing next to a Tinkerer’s Workshop, or your Spectre Boots have not been crafted yet.
