Durandal is one of the earliest Legendary weapons you can carry out of Vale Sangora, and it is tucked away in a cursed valley that most players walk straight past. It is a Level 15 Legendary Longsword hidden inside a pile of wreckage at the bottom of a chasm, guarded by a spectral Echo and a mixed group of wolves and skeletons.
Quick answer: Fast travel to the Coward’s Path Shrine, head west into the mountains and climb to the broken bridge, then drop into the chasm below. Kill the Echo and its minions, switch on Focus Mode, and loot the largest wreckage pile to receive Durandal.
Durandal location: The broken bridge above the cursed chasm
The sword sits inside The Cursed Chasm, an unmarked area in the mountains near Briar Sloughs, close enough to the early game that you can reach it in your first hours. The nearest reliable anchor is the Coward’s Path Shrine. From there, move west toward the mountains and climb the northwestern hills until the fog thickens and a wrecked wooden bridge appears ahead of you.
The whole detour consumes two segments of your timeline, so plan it around whatever else you want to finish in that stretch of day or night.

You do not need a quest in your journal to get the sword. Walking into the area triggers everything on its own, but there is also a dialogue route if you would rather have a marker to follow.
| Method | What you do |
|---|---|
| Walk in cold | Travel to the broken bridge yourself. The quest starts as soon as you reach the cursed area. |
| Tavern rumor | In Svartrau City, speak to the Innkeeper at the tavern by the market and ask if he has heard anything interesting. He mentions Skender’s men falling into a chasm with their treasure. |
How to get Durandal in The Blood of Dawnwalker

Durandal stats and bonuses
Durandal is a Level 15 Legendary Longsword, which means you will likely pick it up slightly under level. The stamina reductions are the standout here, since they let you dodge and swing more often before running dry.
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | Legendary Longsword, Level 15 |
| DPS | 234 |
| Damage | 143–203 |
| Weapon Art cooldown | 15s |
| Damage against Supernatural Enemies | +11.2% |
| Attack Stamina Cost | -21% |
| Dodge Stamina Cost | -21% |
| Swordmastery Ability Cooldown | -7% |
Note: because weapons can be levelled up at blacksmiths during the day, Durandal stays viable long past the point where its base level would normally fall off.
Everything else in the chasm worth looting
The sword is not the only reason to make the trip. The wreckage is scattered across the chasm floor, so sweep the whole area with Focus Mode before you climb back out.
| Item | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Durandal | The largest wreckage pile |
| Recipe for Minor Balm of Fortitude | The largest wreckage pile |
| Nobleman’s Bracers | Chasm wreckage |
| Ring and Final Report | Inspecting the skeleton |
| Treasure Map: Silver Cache | Surrounding wreckage; starts the Finders Keepers quest |
| Silver and Denarius | Scattered across the chasm floor |
The Final Report fills in what happened here. Catalin was hauling a fortune in silver out of the Valley before the Vrakhiri attack, and the soldiers escorting him decided they would rather flee than fight. None of them made it past the bridge. That silver is now yours, and it can be traded for Denarius at merchants, with the Silver Trader in Svartrau City being the obvious stop.
If Durandal is not in the wreckage
You will know the pickup worked when Durandal appears in your inventory tagged as a Legendary Longsword. If you have looted a few piles and it has not shown up, there are only two likely reasons. The first is that you missed the correct pile, since the sword is in the biggest wreck and not the smaller scattered ones. The second is that hostiles are still alive nearby, which blocks some interactions until the area is fully cleared.
Focus Mode solves both problems. Stand at the bottom of the chasm, sweep the area, and every remaining interactable outline will light up until nothing is left.
One last piece of advice on timing. The enemies down here are a genuine step up for an early character, so if you are still in the low teens, expect a hard fight and bring healing. Coming back a level or two later makes the whole detour considerably shorter.
