The Blood of Dawnwalker: How to Get the Ring of Quick Strikes

Trigger The Highland Grave quest near Rockfalls Pasture, avoid the fight, and unlock the chest holding this legendary ring.

The Ring of Quick Strikes is one of four legendary rings in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and it sits inside a locked room in a small set of mountain ruins guarded by two uriashi. Nothing about it is missable or gated behind a boss fight, but you do need a specific key before the door will open, and that key comes from a corpse you can easily run past.

Quick answer: Inspect the skeleton crushed under a carriage on the road near the Rockfalls Pasture shrine to take the Scholar’s Key, then head to the Rockfalls ruins, tell the uriash “I just want to look around,” and use the key on the sturdy door to loot the chest holding the Ring of Quick Strikes.

Ring of Quick Strikes stats

The ring drops at Level 11 and leans entirely into aggressive melee play. It boosts weapon damage and both halves of the critical hit equation, with a small physical damage reduction bonus attached. The one drawback is its lack of any bonus against supernatural enemies, so it is at its best when you are fighting human opponents.

PropertyValue
RarityLegendary Ring
Level11
Weapon Damage+11.2%
Weapon Critical Hit Damage+10.5%
Weapon Critical Hit Chance+7%
Physical Damage Reduction+4.2%
Damage against Supernatural Enemies+0%

Note: If the level number looks low by the time you find it, blacksmiths and armorers can upgrade legendary gear, so an early pickup is not wasted.

Where The Highland Grave quest starts

The ring is tied to The Highland Grave, a short exploration quest in the Rockfalls area. There are two ways to start it. You can walk into the ruins directly and let the uriashi trigger it, or you can find the dead scholar on the road first. Take the second route, because the scholar is carrying the key that opens the door you actually care about.

Fast travel to the Rockfalls Pasture shrine, which also appears as Rock-Strewn Road on the map. If the shrine is not active yet, you unlock it by retrieving the Shrine’s Heart from the soldier camp to the south.

How to get the Ring of Quick Strikes

From the shrine, follow the road on foot until you spot a wrecked carriage with a skeleton pinned underneath it. Ignore the surrounding scenery and head straight for the wreck.
Inspect the crushed skeleton. This starts The Highland Grave and hands you three items at once, the Scholar’s Key, the Scholar’s Map, and a Tattered Journal. The key is the only one you strictly need, but take all three.

Open your map. A yellow search area now marks the ruins, and the quest objective reads “Find the place marked on the map.” Saving here is a good idea, since the next part involves hostile-capable NPCs.

Follow the marker up through the snowy mountain pass to the Rockfalls ruins. The route is a straight climb with no combat encounters on the way.

Enter the ruins and talk to Uriash. Two uriashi are guarding the interior, and they will stop you at the entrance. Pick the dialogue option “I just want to look around.” to keep things peaceful and gain free movement inside.
Move to the sturdy door on the right side of the chamber and open it with the Scholar’s Key. Loot the chest inside. It contains the Ring of Quick Strikes, the Ancient Hero’s Talisman necklace, and a Witchcraft Manual.

Confirming the quest is done

Emptying the chest closes The Highland Grave and awards 250 XP. Open your inventory and check the rings tab, the Ring of Quick Strikes should appear there with its orange legendary border and the flavor line “Strike fast, strike hard, strike with satisfaction.”

You can keep looting vases and containers around the uriashi afterward for sellable goods, but anything highlighted in red counts as theft. Taking those items can make the uriashi turn hostile, so leave them alone unless you are prepared to fight.

Common reasons the door will not open

Almost every failed attempt comes down to the same thing, arriving without the Scholar’s Key. If you walked into the ruins before finding the wreck, the quest starts anyway but the locked room stays shut, so backtrack to the road below and inspect the skeleton before returning.

The other trap is dialogue. Picking anything aggressive with Uriash turns the guards hostile and leaves you fighting through the chamber instead of quietly slipping to the side door. Reload from the save you made before the climb if that happens.

One more thing worth keeping in mind if you are chasing the Gear of the Gods trophy: this ring is one of the 21 legendary items in the game, and it is among the easier ones to secure early. Grab it while you are in the Rockfalls area rather than filing it away for later.
