The exact route, dialogue picks, and end point of Coen’s buried memory of Alin inside the Ambrosius Tower loop.

“Move further into the memory” is the objective that carries Coen through his repressed childhood memory during the Home Sweet Home quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker. It only appears after you break out of the time loop inside Ambrosius Tower, and it stays on the tracker across four separate memory scenes until Coen reaches the frozen river where his younger brother Alin died.

Quick answer: Interact with the well in the yard on your second loop run, answer “Alin” to the shadow version of Coen, cross the cave with Shadowstep/Planeshift, answer the priest with Alin → Esme → Coen, smash the swing ropes in the meadow, then slide down the cliff to the frozen river to end the memory.

Where the memory sequence starts in Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home begins when you open the ritual door near the top of Ambrosius Tower, in The Silts region at the southern edge of the map. Opening it costs 4x Time Segments and drops Coen back into his family home in Laslea. Talking to Esme triggers a Gargoyle attack that takes the whole family, and the loop starts.

The memory objective is not available on your first pass. You have to finish one full run of the loop first, then start a second one. Note that Coen is stripped down to common grey gear for the entire sequence, with only scraps of food and looted ingredients for healing, so the fights are harder than your normal build suggests.

Clear the first area and rescue Esme by killing the Spectral Skeletons. This is the same opening you already saw on run one.
Move to the second area and defeat the Vidmo Specters holding Lunka, Yanna, and Mirto. Tell your siblings to head to the church when prompted.
Do not walk forward to the third area, where Pieter and the Keeper of Nightmares Gargoyle miniboss are waiting. Stop in the yard instead.
Turn on Focus Mode and look at the well. A voice calls out to you. Save your game here if you want to keep the option of seeing the loop’s other outcome, then interact with the well to be pulled into the memory.

The cave: shadow Coen and the first portal

You land in front of a shadow version of Coen. Talk to him and pick Alin as your reply. Anything else stalls the conversation. Once control returns, climb the rock wall and head into the cave, which fills with red ghostly figures and whispering voices as you go deeper.

The cave is a traversal section, not a fight. Use Shadowstep/Planeshift to cross the broken stone platforms, following the red light as your guide. The distance counter on the tracker ticks down as you close in on the objective marker, and the section ends at a glowing red portal.

The church: correct sermon answers

The portal drops Coen into a ruined church mid-funeral, and the objective switches to “Help the priest recall the sermon.” Yellow memory projections are scattered around the room, and interacting with them fills in the words the priest has lost. The answers must go in this order: Alin → Esme → Coen.

Getting the order right finishes the sermon and confirms what the memory has been hiding. The dead boy is Coen’s younger brother, Alin, and Coen has been carrying the blame for his death.

When the scene ends, run out of the church and through the dark passage behind it. Another red portal sits at the end of it, and the tracker flips back to “Move further into the memory.”

The forest and the meadow swing

On the other side, the objective changes to “Run after the boy.” Chase him through the fog-covered forest. There is nothing to fight and nothing to search here, so just keep moving until the trees open onto a meadow.

In the meadow, the tracker reads “Investigate the meadow.” A swing hangs there, and Coen remembers helping Alin tie its ropes. Walk to the stump, inspect the highlighted ropes, and Coen breaks them apart in a burst of grief. That action is what advances the memory.

The cliff descent and the frozen river

The last stretch is a long climb down a cliff face using Coen’s magical climbing abilities. Take the ledges and slide down the edge until you land at the bottom. The journal fires a QUEST UPDATED prompt for Home Sweet Home during the descent.

Walk along the frozen river until you find the hole in the ice. Coen comes face to face with Alin, and the memory confirms that his brother drowned while the two of them were playing. The guilt is what buried the memory in the first place. That meeting closes the objective for good.

Why the memory objective never appears

There are only a few reasons the well never calls out to you.

  • You are still on your first run. The escape only opens after one full pass through the loop.
  • You have not cleared the Vidmo Specters in the second area yet, or you have not sent your siblings to the church.
  • You walked ahead to the Gargoyle fight instead of stopping in the yard, which pushes you into another loop.
  • Focus Mode is off, so the well is not marked as an interactable.

If you keep repeating the loop instead, the family dies in the church each time. On the fifth sequence, speaking to Esme locks Coen in with them permanently and unlocks the “Together Forever” achievement. That ending replaces the memory route, so pick one deliberately.

How to confirm the memory is finished

Coen wakes up in the real world inside Ambrosius Tower, interrupting the astrologer’s ritual. Regaining control there is the clearest sign the objective is done, and the loot around you confirms it.

RewardWhere to find it
Astrologer’s Ring (legendary)Looted from Ambrosius
Recipe for Supernatural’s Blood InfusionLooted from Ambrosius
Flask of QuicksilverTop floor of the tower
Unnatural Resilience ManualChest on the tower balcony

The Astrologer’s Ring boosts witchcraft ability damage, cuts witchcraft cooldowns, and improves AC restoration from both actions and passive regeneration. Before you leave, climb to the top of the tower and use the windwave to scout the surrounding area, since Ambrosius Tower also works as a standard Scouting Tower once the ritual is broken.
