Tier 2 gear sits at the top of the equipment ladder in The Division Resurgence. It carries the highest base attributes and stat ceilings, which is what pushes your power score, armor, and damage high enough to clear the toughest endgame content. If your progress feels stuck at level 40, the missing link is almost always a steady supply of well-rolled T2 pieces.
Quick answer: Reach level 40, unlock Legendary difficulty in the Elite Mission Challenges, then run those missions repeatedly. Enemies, bosses, and the weekly reward chests inside them are the most reliable source of T2 gear.

Requirements to unlock T2 gear farming
T2 drops are gated behind endgame progression. Two conditions must be met before the farm becomes available to you.
- Your character must be level 40.
- You must unlock Legendary difficulty for the eight Elite Mission Challenges.
The Elite Mission Challenges rotate every week, and Legendary is the difficulty that actually grants T2 rewards. You can confirm official game status and event notices on the official The Division Resurgence page.

How T2 drops work inside Elite Mission Challenges
T2 gear comes from two places inside a Legendary run. Regular enemies and bosses can drop T2 pieces while you clear the mission, and the two weekly chests grant T2 gear after your second Legendary completion. Because of that, your first clears each week carry the most value, so prioritize them at reset.
There is no way to target a specific piece. Drops are random, so the practical approach is volume. Keep running the rotation and bank pieces that fill real gaps in your build until the exact rolls you want appear.
Dark Zone as a secondary source
Heroic bosses and Landmarks in the Dark Zone can also drop T2 gear. However, T2 shows up far less often there than in an Elite Mission Challenge, and drops must survive extraction. Treat the Dark Zone as a supplement, not your main farm. It is more valuable for chipset targeting than for building out a T2 loadout.
T2 versus lower tiers
Tier is separate from rarity color. A gold item can still be T0, and tier determines how high its attributes can roll. T2 is the long-term target, but a strong T0 or T1 roll can outperform a weak T2 piece in the short term, so replace based on real build impact rather than tier alone.
| Gear tier | Stat ceiling | Role in progression |
|---|---|---|
| T0 | Low | Entry endgame filler; replace first unless the roll is exceptional |
| T1 | Medium | Transitional; keep short-term if the rolls fit your build |
| T2 | Highest | Endgame core target; prioritize for final loadouts |
What to do with drops you don’t need
Materials, not credits, are usually the bottleneck in the endgame. When a drop isn’t an upgrade, dismantle it instead of selling, since dismantling returns about 90 percent of the upgrade materials. Keep pieces that close specific gaps such as crit consistency, armor sustain, cooldown cycling, or recoil control, and break down the rest to fuel the gear you keep.
How to confirm the farm is working
You know the loop is active once your second Legendary completion of the week releases both reward chests from the “About Weekly Rewards” section, and once T2-labeled pieces begin appearing in your inventory. Inspect any item to check its tier label. If you are level 40 but see no Legendary option, you have not yet unlocked Legendary difficulty for the Elite Mission Challenges, which is the most common reason the T2 farm does not start.
Stick with the weekly rotation, prioritize your early clears for the chest rewards, and lean on the Dark Zone only when you want extra chances or chipsets. Over a few weekly cycles, that steady volume is what turns a T0 placeholder loadout into a full T2 build.
