WANTED: Baron Longshore is a level 16 bounty in The Barrens that any character of level 11 or higher can take, on both the Alliance and Horde sides. The task is simple to describe and slightly fiddly in practice, because the target wanders between pirate camps along the coast south of Ratchet.
Quick answer: Grab the WANTED poster by the Ratchet bank, head south along the Merchant Coast, kill Baron Longshore at one of three pirate camps, loot Baron Longshore’s Head, and hand it to Gazlowe in Ratchet.
Where to pick up WANTED: Baron Longshore in Ratchet
The quest does not come from an NPC. It starts at a wanted poster attached to the Ratchet bank building, sitting just to the left of the bank NPCs. The poster has no exclamation mark floating over it, so it is easy to walk past. Click it directly to open the quest and accept the bounty.
The single objective is to bring Baron Longshore’s Head (1) back to Gazlowe, the goblin who runs Ratchet. Baron Longshore is named as the captain of the Heedless, wanted for piracy on behalf of the Southsea Freebooters.

Route from Ratchet to the Merchant Coast
Finding and killing Baron Longshore
Baron Longshore is always up somewhere on the Merchant Coast, but he moves between three southern camps rather than sitting at a fixed point. When he dies, he respawns within about two minutes at one of the other spawn points. He does not appear at the two camps closest to Ratchet, so ignore those and check the ones further south.
He is easy to pick out. He is a human wearing a red long-coat and a black hat, standing near a tent among the Southsea pirates. His usual spots cluster around the following coordinates.
- Around 64, 47, in front of a tent
- Around 63, 48 to 63, 49, by a camp with two tents
- Around 62, 49 to 62, 50, at the camp furthest south before Northwatch Hold
If he is not at the first camp, run down the line and check the others. Clearing the pirates at one camp can cause him to reset to a different one, so keep scanning the tents as you fight.
Baron Longshore is a level 16 humanoid, and the pirates around him sit between roughly level 13 and 15. Southsea Cannoneers and Southsea Brigands tend to stand near him. Clear the nearby adds first, or use a pet or crowd control, so you are not taking hits from several enemies at once. He is a straightforward solo kill for most classes around level 13 to 17.
Once he is dead, loot his corpse to pick up Baron Longshore’s Head. The quest objective updates to 1/1 and reads “Objective Complete.”
Turn in the head to Gazlowe and confirm completion
Return north to Ratchet and speak to Gazlowe inside the goblin building to hand over the head. He gives you 8 silver, 1,150 experience, and 100 reputation with Ratchet. The quest closing message tells you the Baron will trouble his ships no longer, which confirms the turn-in worked.
