Wardogs: How to Exchange Cash for Gold Bars

The Gold Exchange sits in the top-right of the main menu, the rate moves daily, and every conversion is final.

The Gold Exchange sits in the top-right of the main menu, the rate moves daily, and every conversion is final.

Cash in Wardogs is working money. It buys your weapon, your magazines, your parachute and your vehicle, every single life, and it does not survive a progression reset. Gold Bars do. They are the endgame currency, they stay tied to your account across seasons, and the only way to get them is to hand over cash at the Gold Exchange.

Quick answer: From the main menu, click the gold bar icon in the top-right corner, check the day’s rate in the Gold Exchange window, then press EXCHANGE. The conversion is one-way.

How to exchange cash for Gold Bars in Wardogs

Load into the main menu, the screen with PLAY, UNLOCK, CUSTOMIZE and BLACK MARKET down the side. Your cash balance and your Gold Bar count both sit along the top right, next to each other.
Click the gold bar icon in the top-right corner. That opens the Gold Exchange panel, headed “EXCHANGE YOUR CASH FOR GOLD BARS”.

Read the rate before you commit. The panel prints the current price as a single line — during Early Access V0.0.1 it read $2,303,752 = 1 GOLD BAR — and draws a history graph above it. You can switch that graph between 1W, 1M, 12M and 52W to see how the price has moved.
Press EXCHANGE to convert, or CANCEL to back out and wait for a better day. The cash leaves your balance immediately and the bar count beside it goes up, which is your confirmation that it worked. Open the Gold Market afterwards and the new total shows there too.

Gold Bar exchanges cannot be resold or refunded. Cash flows one way into gold and never comes back, so anything you convert is no longer available for loadouts.

Why the exchange rate keeps moving

This is not a fixed conversion. BULKHEAD built the rate to fluctuate daily, which makes timing the point of the whole system. A lower number on the panel means a cheaper bar, so a large balance converted on a bad day buys noticeably less than the same balance converted on a good one. Holding bars costs nothing once you have them.

Recorded prices give a sense of the swing rather than a number you can plan around:

DateCash per Gold Bar
22 August 2026$266,246
8 September 2026$255,706
9 September 2026$254,809
10 September 2026$2,798,240

The jump at the Early Access launch window is large enough that older figures are useless as a benchmark. Treat every number above as a snapshot of its own day and read the price in your own client before converting anything substantial.

Where the Gold Exchange sits: Black Market vs Gold Market

The main-menu section is called the Black Market, and both the Gold Exchange and the Gold Market live inside it. The Black Market is the wider metagame BULKHEAD has described — arms dealers, wagers, side businesses, manufacturer buyouts and the Vault — and its screen already carries tabs for Investments, Unlocks and Missions alongside a “Work In Progress” button. The Gold Exchange and the Gold Market are the parts switched on.

Cash purchases also appear in this section, so it is worth reading what you are clicking. The consumable deals here take cash, not bars.

What Gold Bars buy in the Gold Market

Bars spend on cosmetics and nothing else. They do not fund loadouts, ammunition or vehicles at the in-match vendor. The Early Access catalogue ran to 20 entries across four price tiers, covering weapon skins, vehicle paints, a parachute skin and emotes.

Everything you unlock here is permanent on the account. None of it is purchasable with real money — BULKHEAD has stated that in-game cash and Gold Bars will never be monetised and must be earned through play, and that camos will not be sold directly.

What a progression reset does to your cash

The exchange panel spells out the reset rule in the game itself:

At the end of a major update cycle your level progression and cash will be reset. The date of any major update and progression reset will be announced ahead of time. Any remaining cash at the end of a cycle will be automatically exchanged for gold bars.

So nothing is confiscated. The practical difference is who picks the rate. Convert manually and you choose the day; leave it to the reset and you take whatever price the cycle ends on.

  • Gold Bars — kept permanently on the account.
  • Gold Market cosmetics — kept permanently.
  • Cash — reset, with any remainder auto-converted into bars.
  • Level and XP progression — reset with the cycle.

No first reset date or recurring season length has been published. The panel states only that the date will be announced in advance, and resets are tied to update cycles rather than a calendar.

How much cash to keep back

Convert surplus, not operating money. Every life you deploy costs cash at the vendor, and weapons, magazines and ammunition are separate purchases, so a balance that looks comfortable on the menu screen can vanish across a session. Vendor gear is also 50% off while you are below Wardog level 9, which makes that window the wrong time to be draining your balance into cosmetics — the expensive permanent unlocks are half price then and never again.

Once you have more cash than your next few deployments need, the exchange is the only thing that makes it durable. Watch the graph for a day or two, convert on a dip, and let the reset mop up whatever is left over.
