If you are a paid user for Google’s premium G Suite services, you are in for a treat that the free account users do not have access to. Google Meet has a very convenient recording option for its G Suite Enterprise, G Suite Enterprise Essential, and G Suite Enterprise for Education users. Recording meetings on Google Meet is a simple feat that is achievable in just a couple of clicks.

But what happens after you’ve recorded your meetings might be somewhat of a mystery to you as there are no options for accessing those recordings from the meet.google.com page. If you’ve found yourself entangled in this enigma, you are in the right place to get demystified.

Where do Google Meet Recordings Go?

A meeting on Google Meet can be recorded by anyone who belongs to the same organization as the meeting organizer and is using Google Meet from a desktop and not a mobile app. But no matter who started the recording in Google Meet, the recording will always end up in the Google Drive of the meeting organizer.

As for the person who started the recording, they and the organizer will also receive an email with the recording link. The recording can be shared with that link and downloaded from there as well.

If you scheduled the meeting from the Google Calendar, the recording link appears automatically in the event information in the calendar. So invitees will have direct access to the recording straight from their Google Calendar.

How to View a Google Meet Recording

Now that you know all the places you can access the meeting recordings from, let’s get onto how to actually view them.

In Google Drive

If you are the meeting organizer, you can view the recording from your Google Drive. Go to the Google Drive and log in with the same account you use for your Google Meet.

Go to ‘My Drive’ and you’ll find a ‘Meet Recordings’ folder there. Open it to access all your meeting recordings. If you cannot find the recording in the folder, wait for a few minutes as it typically takes some time for Google to process the video and add it to your Drive after you stop the recording.

Recordings in your Google Drive can also be shared and downloaded.

To share the recording, select the file and click on the ‘Share’ icon as you would for any other file in your Google Drive and then enter the email address of the people you want to share the recording with.

You can also click on the ‘Link’ icon to get the shareable link that you can forward in an email or a chat message.

To download a recording on your computer, select the file, then click on the ‘More’ option (three vertical dots) and select ‘Download’ from the menu.

From the Email Link

If you are the meeting organizer or the person who started the recording, you would receive an email with the meeting link in it. To play the recording, simply click on the link to open it and then click the ‘Play’ button.

To share the recording, you can either forward the link or click on the ‘More’ option (three vertical dots), select ‘Share’ from the menu, and then enter the email addresses of the people you want to share the recording with. You can also download it to your computer from the link by clicking the ‘Download’ button.

In the Google Calendar Event

If you scheduled the meeting via Google Calendar and the recording started at the scheduled meeting time, then the recording link will automatically appear in the event information in Google Calendar.

So all the meeting participants that belong to the same organization as the organizer will automatically have access to the recording from their Google Calendar. Click on the link to open and view the recording.
