Lie Buxi is a friendable NPC in Where Winds Meet who waits near the river south of the General’s Shrine in the Verdant Wilds. She is searching for her two missing brothers, and the AI Chat system lets you win her trust by proving you found them. The key is finishing the right side quest first, then steering the conversation toward the evidence she asks for.
Quick answer: Complete the Echoes of Old Battles side quest to rescue her brothers and collect Lie Yan’s Final Words, then tell Lie Buxi you stopped the bandits, mention you carry her father’s letter, and offer her the letter to read. She reaches Affection +100 and becomes Revered.
Lie Buxi location in Verdant Wilds
You can find Lie Buxi at the General’s Shrine in the Verdant Wilds, standing near the river just south of the shrine. She frowns and asks the Wanderer whether you have seen her two brothers. Talking to her opens the AI Chat window, but you cannot convince her until you have actually completed the connected quest and gathered proof.

The required side quest is Echoes of Old Battles, which takes place at Battlecrest Slope. You need to rescue her brothers and pick up Lie Yan’s Final Words, the letter found in the last room of the ruins.

The AI Chat lines that befriend Lie Buxi
When the chat opens, Lie Buxi will be hopeful but wary, and she keeps asking for proof. Drive the conversation through three beats: confirm the rescue, mention the letter, then hand it over. The reliable sequence looks like this.
| Beat | What to tell her |
|---|---|
| Confirm the rescue | You stopped the bandits at Battlecrest Slope and rescued her brothers. |
| Mention the proof | You have a letter from Lie Yan, her father, taken from Battlecrest Slope, and she can read it. |
| Hand over the evidence | You will give her Lie Yan’s Final Words. |
An alternate route also works. Tell her the brothers are alive and safe, that they went looking for uncle Cui, and that she should head to Iron Ridge. When she insists on evidence, say you have the letter from her father and that she should read it herself. The letter is the clue that finally convinces her.
Note: AI conversations are not fully scripted, so the exact same lines may not always produce the same outcome. If she stalls, the letter remains the strongest piece of proof to lead with.

How to confirm she became Revered
You know it worked when Lie Buxi thanks the Wanderer, steadies her voice, and says she will find her brothers no matter what. The screen then shows she expresses gratitude and begins to ponder deeply, and you gain Affection +100, which moves her relationship to Revered. As a possible gift she can hand you a Travel Sack, which grants a random Jianghu Travel Essential item.
Fixing a stuck or hostile conversation
If the chat goes off track or refuses to end, these recovery steps keep you from wasting the attempt.
- Press the refresh icon at the top of the chat box to reset and start clean. Trying one approach per conversation and refreshing between attempts works better than stacking tactics in a single chat.
- If the NPC suddenly turns violent, exit to the login screen. When you return, Lie Buxi will be back exactly as she was before the conversation.
- Read the on-screen hint. It points toward the win condition, so shape your replies to lead the dialogue there.
With the brothers rescued and Lie Yan’s Final Words in hand, the dialogue resolves quickly. Lead with the rescue, back it up with the letter, and Lie Buxi will accept your word and move to Revered.
