DMZ Orders are the task list that structures progression in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ. After a short onboarding page, the game asks you to commit to one of three story chapters. In DMZ early access those are CH. HUMAN INTEL, CH. UNDERGROUND and CH. COUNTERFEIT. More chapters may arrive with future seasons.

Quick answer: Pick Human Intel for early medical supplies and UAVs, Underground for the Night Vision Goggles recipe, or Counterfeit for the Recon Drone recipe. You complete the other chapters later.

DMZ Orders page 1: Gear Up, Crackshot and First Op

On the FOB screen, the current Orders page is displayed in the upper-left corner with the title “DMZ ORDERS PG n”. Orders show a number, a name and progress counters; one example is “Loot 30 Chemicals 0/30”. While deployed, the HUD’s upper-right corner displays your current order. The COLLAPSE and VIEW ORDERS prompts appear beneath the FOB list.

DMZ ORDERS PG 1 opens the first time you reach the FOB. It is a three-order onboarding page that you clear before any chapter becomes available.

Complete 01 GEAR UP at the STASH/LOADOUT crate. The order asks you to “Equip a Weapon, a Backpack, an Armor Vest, and a Medkit from Your Stash”.
Walk the short distance from the stash to the firing range for 02 CRACKSHOT. Knock down three targets to fill the “Knock Down 3 Firing Range Targets 0/3” counter.
Go to the helicopter pad for 03 FIRST OP and deploy in Dynamic Ops. Select HAJIN, DYNAMIC OPERATIONS and INFIL: GROUND, then launch the deployment.

When you return from that first deployment, the FOB shows two banners: “Story missions are unlocked” and “Printer Recipe Unlocked”. Those banners tell you the chapter selection is next.

How to open the CHOOSE A CHAPTER screen

Find the INCOMING VIDEO box in the FOB’s upper-left corner. Choose “ACCEPT INCOMING TRANSMISSION” to start a short briefing over the Hajin map.
Wait for the CHOOSE A CHAPTER screen to open after the briefing. It reads “Select which Story Chapter to complete first. You will complete all Chapters over time.”
Use the left side to highlight chapters and compare their details. In the center, you’ll find the page and order counts, the ending story mission for that chapter, a brief story description, and the MISSION REWARDS for its ending mission. CHAPTER REWARDS are shown on the right.
Choose a chapter to set its orders to DMZ ORDERS PG 2, with the label “CHAPTER: CH. <NAME> 1/2”. The next page for that chapter is PG 3 and shows 2/2; on Human Intel it carries orders such as Death From Above and Flash Grenade.

For example, picking Human Intel changes the top-left panel to “CHAPTER: CH. HUMAN INTEL 1/2”. That page opens with three orders:

  • 01 HUNTER: locate and climb a Hunt Lieutenant Tower, then use the terminal at the top to locate the nearest Lieutenant.
  • 02 TRIAGE PROTOCOL: head to a clinic, loot a bandage and loot 30 Chemicals.
  • 03 NO ONE LEFT: clear a compound, then loot the dropped medical extraction intel.

Human Intel, Underground and Counterfeit: Story missions and rewards

The three chapters share the same structure. Each has 2 pages and 6 orders and ends on one story mission with its own reward.

ChapterEnding story missionMission reward
CH. HUMAN INTELOperation Critical ExtractionMirae Electrical Room Key
CH. UNDERGROUNDOperation Shopping HacksCoin Mining Den Key
CH. COUNTERFEITOperation Silent LedgerGold Bar (resource)

The story texts set the tone for each chapter. Critical Extraction centres on protected transports, locked-down facilities and heavy security around a single unidentified asset inside Hajin’s medical network. Shopping Hacks centres on black-market trade in recovered military tech in the shopping district. Silent Ledger traces counterfeit currency flooding Hajin back to powerful interests inside the zone.

Each chapter also pays six chapter rewards, shown on the right side of the selection screen:

Two Counterfeit reward names are cut off on screen. The explosives kit appears as “EXPLOSIVES EQUIPME…” and the insurance reward as “WEAPON INSURANCE C…”.

Which DMZ chapter to pick first

Because the selection screen says that all chapters will be completed over time, your pick determines the sequence and doesn’t exclude any chapter. Each one awards two 20000 cash rewards plus an Operator Rescue Beacon. Pick the chapter whose other rewards you’d like to get first.

Human Intel suits players who want consumables and fire support early. The Basic Triage Kit provides a Medkit, Pain Killers, Radiation Blockers and a Bandage when claimed, and the chapter adds three UAVs and the Flash recipe. Its opening tasks send you to a clinic, a compound and a Hunt Lieutenant tower, which fit naturally into your first few deployments.

Underground carries three recipes: DDOS, Decoy Grenade and Night Vision Goggles, and its orders include Eye in the Sky, Watch for Bumps and Triangulation. Night vision helps in the dark NuriGO Mall underground and in the Shopping Hacks mission. The Basic Restock Kit provides two Medium Backpacks, an Armor Box and an Ammo Box when claimed.

Counterfeit rewards you with a Recon Drone recipe, an explosives survival kit and a weapon insurance reward. Its ending mission pays a Gold Bar.

Story missions do not wait for chapter orders

Your active orders do not gate the story missions. Once story missions unlock, you choose them from the Story Missions deployment tab. You can play missions from other chapters, including Silent Ledger, Critical Extraction and Shopping Hacks, while your chosen chapter’s first page is still open.

The mission screen also has a weekly task: “WEEKLY COMPLETION 0/3 – Complete a random Story Mission 3 times every week to earn rewards”. Recipe and manual progress is tracked on the FOB board next to the stash, which starts at “3D PRINTER RECIPES 6/104″ and “GUNSMITH WEAPON MANUALS 0/28”.
