Unnerving Silence is a short travel quest that asks you to check on a druid conclave that has gone quiet. There is nothing to kill and nothing to collect, but the route crosses hostile ground and the turn-in NPC is tucked out of sight, which is where most players lose time.

Quick answer: Travel to the northeastern part of Shadowgale Forest, near the Ruins of Ban’aethal, and speak with Elegael Thornpaw, who stands behind the large tree by the conclave cave.

The whole quest takes place on Zephras Isle, so you never leave the starting continent. Because it is sharable, one player in a group can pick it up from Lotheluum and pass it to everyone else before the run out to the forest.

Where to find Elegael Thornpaw in Shadowgale Forest

Lotheluum Starbreeze points you toward a druid conclave sheltering in a cave in the northeast of Shadowgale Forest. Her correspondence with them stopped, and with Ban’aethall in ruins she wants confirmation that the druids are still alive.

Open your map and head for the labelled Ruins of Ban’aethal area in the forest’s northeastern corner. That marker is the best anchor for the run, since the forest itself is heavily fogged and visibility on the ground is poor.

Elegael does not stand in the open. He is positioned behind a large tree near the conclave, so if you stop at the tree and see nobody, walk around the back of it rather than assuming you are in the wrong spot.

The approach is patrolled by Shadowgale Ursera and Shadowgale Strigid. Both will pull as you move through the fog, so clear them one at a time instead of trying to outrun a chain of adds at level 11.

How to complete Unnerving Silence

Speak to Lotheluum Starbreeze and accept Unnerving Silence. She is the druid trainer on Zephras Isle, and you need to be at least level 8 for the quest to appear.
Travel northeast into Shadowgale Forest, using the Ruins of Ban’aethal on your map as the target. Fight or avoid the beasts along the way; none of them drop anything the quest needs.
Find the large tree at the conclave site and move behind it to reveal Elegael Thornpaw. Talk to him to hand in the quest.

Accept the quests Elegael offers before leaving. Tears of the Lady and Feathers for Binding both start here and continue the Nightclaw Druid storyline.

How to confirm the quest is complete

You will know the turn-in registered when Elegael asks where the rest of the reinforcements are, then pales as you explain that Lotheluum never received their message. He tells you the conclave must handle the situation alone, and the quest clears from your log.

Your experience bar ticks up by 220 and you gain 100 reputation with the Nightclaw Druids. Two new quest markers also appear on Elegael, which is the clearest visual sign that the chain has advanced.

If you are unsure whether a character already finished it, paste this into chat:

/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(94484))

A result of true means the quest is already logged as complete on that character.

Unnerving Silence was added in patch 1.60.1 as part of the Zephras Isle leveling content, and the details around it were recorded during beta testing, so NPC placement and reward values can still shift before launch.
