How flight paths work in WoW Forever
Air travel in World of Warcraft: Forever follows a straightforward system: each flight master connects to certain other flight points. Speak to a master to learn its route; afterward, you can travel between any flight points you have learned. Blizzard’s own advice for a first adventure puts it plainly: “Keep your Hearthstone nearby and visit flight masters to learn flight paths that make distant travel easier.”
Flights get cheaper and quicker with Frequent Flier, a Legacy talent in the Adventure tree: “You receive a 50% discount on all flight paths, and your flight path mount flies 20% faster.” Legacy talents come from the Legacy system, which you build up by earning Legacy Points.
Some flight points offer more direct connections than others. Alliance counts are Ironforge (10), Auberdine (9), Stormwind (7), and Talrendis Point (6). For the Horde, Crossroads has 13, Thunder Bluff has 10, and Gadgetzan and Kargath have 8 apiece. Eastern Kingdoms has 30 flight masters, 17 for the Alliance and 13 for the Horde. Riverglades, one of the new zones, adds one for each faction. Booty Bay, Thorium Point and Light’s Hope Chapel each split into a separate Alliance flight master and a separate Horde flight master, and each has its own routes. On the maps, every flight master is a pin. Lines join flight points that share a direct route, and they are drawn straight, so they do not trace the path the flight actually takes.

Kalimdor’s 37 flight masters break down into 15 Alliance, 18 Horde, and 4 available to both factions. Everyone can use the masters at Ratchet in The Barrens, Marshal’s Refuge in Un’Goro Crater, and both flight points in Mount Hyjal. At Gadgetzan, Everlook, Cenarion Hold, and Moonglade, a pair of masters serves the two factions. Nighthaven in Moonglade has an additional master for each faction, with one route apiece.
