My Hero Academia United Survival drops your three-person squad into fast top-down runs where Quirks clear waves, control crowds, and carry boss fights. Not every character has to be your damage dealer to earn a spot, and the strongest picks blend reliable hits, a useful Ultimate, and costume bonuses that help the whole team. The ranking below sorts the launch roster into clear tiers so you know who to build first.
Quick answer: Pick Shoto Todoroki from the beginner SR guarantee. He combines AoE damage, Freeze control, and projectile deletion from the start, which fits this game’s swarm-heavy combat better than any other starter.
Full character tier list (launch meta)
This reflects the game’s launch on August 6, 2026. Placements weigh each character’s regular skill, Ultimate cost and effects, Awakening upgrades, costume bonuses, and how much investment they need to reach their power spikes. Rarity matters too, since lower-rarity units (N and R) take longer to hit their key breakpoints.

Add to Google Preferences →S Tier: meta-defining carries and control
These four handle waves, elites, and bosses with few bad matchups. Two of them (Todoroki and Midoriya) also sit on the beginner SR guarantee, so most new players can start here without pulling.
| Character | Why it ranks S |
|---|---|
![]() Shoto Todoroki SR · AoE · U.A. Class 1-A | Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall stacks AoE damage, projectile deletion, and Freeze immediately. Frozen targets take AoE DEF Down at skill Level 3, turning his control into a team damage boost. Flashfreeze Heatwave adds Knockback and gets cheaper at UR+. |
![]() Tomura Shigaraki SR · AoE · League of Villains | Collapse Zone grows into a multi-hit field with general DEF Down and AoE DEF Down. Hand of Decay costs only 120 SP, applies long Laceration, and grants up to 40% ATK Up at max level. His peak Awakening eats a four-star Chemical Smog, but the payoff is worth it. |
![]() Izuku Midoriya SR · Ranged · U.A. Class 1-A | Delaware Smash auto-targets the nearest enemy and spawns extra hits on impact, so Deku works from wave one. Awakening adds piercing, shorter cooldowns, and lingering path attacks. His base costume gives the team 7% ATK; lighter control is his only real gap. |
![]() All Might SR · Ranged · Pro Hero | Texas Smash clears his surroundings then fires a directional projectile, with Knockback and enemy-fire deletion for messy waves. Detroit Smash adds a circular clear and grants every ally 20% ATK Up. The 190-SP Ultimate is pricey, but the safety plus team buffs are top class. |
A Tier: strong picks with a catch
Excellent core characters held back by investment needs, positioning demands, or matchup limits. Several are specialists that outclass S Tier in the right mode, like Kurogiri in escort and survival floors.
| Character | Why it ranks A |
|---|---|
![]() Momo Yaoyorozu R · AoE · U.A. Class 1-A | Matryoshkas throws three AoE attacks plus a follow-up, gaining more range and four extra hits at max. Her 145-SP Ultimate raises all-ally Max HP by up to 40% and restores the new health for emergency sustain. R rarity delays her strongest breakpoints. |
![]() Kurogiri R · AoE · League of Villains | Warp Gate Evasion grants the whole team six seconds of Invincibility for 150 SP, scaling to ten seconds plus Movement Speed Up. That is exceptional in survival, escort, and high Challenge Battle floors. Personal damage is modest and R rarity needs promotion. |
![]() Shota Aizawa SR · Melee · Pro Hero | Suppressive Chain hits extra targets after its aimed strike, giving rare multi-target reach for a Melee unit. Erasure Bindings stacks Movement Speed Down and ATK Down, adding Melee DEF Down at max. Random follow-up targeting and a 190-SP Ultimate limit focus fire. |
![]() Hawks SR · AoE · Pro Hero | Vortex keeps an AoE around him for several seconds, ideal for clearing enemies around an objective. He layers Laceration with high CRIT scaling, and Storm Wings gets a 20% SP cut at UR+. The close-range field asks for riskier positioning. |
![]() All For One SR · Ranged · League of Villains | What a Delightful Combination pierces up to 20 enemies, then 30, and becomes unlimited at LR. It removes some enemy fire and applies Knockback. His pierce value falls off against a lone boss, and his 200-SP Ultimate is the most expensive in the roster. |
![]() Endeavor SR · Ranged · Pro Hero | Hot Shot spawns another attack on each hit for strong sustained damage. Ignited Arrow builds Burn and raises its strength from 5% to 7%, making him a solid Boss Attack pick. The 200-SP Ultimate and four-star Burn requirement can outlast short runs. |
![]() Stain SR · Melee · Villain | Murderous Blade covers a 180-degree arc and adds a strike, gaining piercing and three-direction hits later. Bloody Purge self-buffs CRIT and adds Paralysis plus Melee DEF Down. Its debuffs only hit enemies below full HP, and much of the control arrives at UR+/LR+. |
![]() Himiko Toga R · Ranged · League of Villains | Who’s First? applies Laceration from range with a better proc chance at four stars. Her awakened skill grants MAIN-only SP Regeneration on lacerated targets, feeding a natural Ultimate loop. She is weak as a SUB and R rarity slows her peak. |
B Tier: mode and slot specialists
Solid roster pieces that shine in specific modes, slots, or with heavier investment. Several bring team utility (movement speed, healing, SP acquisition) that matters more than raw damage.
| Character | Why it ranks B |
|---|---|
![]() Ochaco Uraraka SR · Ranged · U.A. Class 1-A | Comet Reflection bounces between enemies and walls, so she thrives in crowded, enclosed rooms. Rank ups add attack speed, extra projectiles, and big max-rank damage. Random ricochet geometry hurts her Boss Attack consistency in open space. |
![]() Tenya Iida SR · Melee · U.A. Class 1-A | Leg Turbine is a clean directional attack with good cooldown scaling and two extra hitboxes at max. Reciproburst deals circular damage and grants eight seconds of Invincibility. Team Movement Speed helps clue collection, rescue, and escorts. |
![]() Tsuyu Asui R · Melee · U.A. Class 1-A | Tongue-Lashing gains Paralysis, range, and a circular two-hit pattern at max. Ribbiting Escape heals every ally for 200% of her HP Recovery Amount, a rare reset. Low personal damage and a 185-SP Ultimate keep her a support specialist. |
![]() Minoru Mineta N · Ranged · U.A. Class 1-A | Grape Shot fires three projectiles with Movement Speed Down from Level 1. Grape Rush is the cheapest offensive Ultimate at 100 SP and adds ATK Down later. His N start means a long grind and a modest damage ceiling. |
![]() Katsuki Bakugo SR · Melee · U.A. Class 1-A | Impact Grenade scales Knockback from small to large and becomes a circular attack. His four-star follow-up fires in your movement direction, rewarding active play. He needs high star rank to fix early coverage and brings little sustain or debuffs. |
![]() Fumikage Tokoyami N · Melee · U.A. Class 1-A | Black Talons covers front and rear from two stars, easing directional positioning. Raven-Black Shield costs 115 SP and grants team DEF plus a big Projectile DEF bonus. His base costume boosts MAIN SP acquisition, but N rarity makes the long version costly. |
C and D Tier: situational and outclassed
C Tier units work with favorable maps or heavy investment. Denki Kaminari sits alone in D Tier because his kit carries a self-debuff that is hard to justify at launch.
| Character | Tier | Notes |
|---|---|---|
![]() Present Mic R · Ranged · Pro Hero | C | Booming Voice pierces and bounces off walls for good clear on the right map. Loud Voice can apply Paralysis. Random targets, map-dependent bounces, and a 195-SP Ultimate make results inconsistent. |
![]() Eijiro Kirishima SR · Melee · U.A. Class 1-A | C | Red Slash gives two reliable nearest-target hits. Red Counter costs 142 SP, grants up to 9,000 DEF, and surrounds him with damaging Knockback. The Ultimate protects only him, and his utility lags Kurogiri, Momo, and Tokoyami. |
![]() Dabi R · Ranged · League of Villains | C | Fiery Resentment is a rapid piercing stream that cuts through packed lanes. Blue Condemnation scales to guaranteed large Burn buildup at max. Burn arrives at four stars, the Ultimate costs 190 SP, and reliable application is back-loaded to UR+/LR+. |
![]() Denki Kaminari R · Melee · U.A. Class 1-A | D | Human Stun Gun offers circular coverage, but the skill does not apply Paralysis despite the name. Indiscriminate Shock inflicts large ATK Down and Movement Speed Down on Denki himself for ten seconds, a steep cost on a 185-SP Ultimate. Enemy Paralysis is locked behind max Ultimate level. |
Which starter to pick from the SR guarantee
The beginner SR Recruit Ticket lets you choose one of three characters as an SR, while the other two arrive as N-ranked cards. The choices are Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, and Shoto Todoroki.
| Starter | Best for |
|---|---|
| Shoto Todoroki | The strongest pick. AoE damage plus Freeze control with a shrinking cooldown between freezes handles swarms cleanly. |
| Izuku Midoriya | Most beginner-friendly. Linear progression, strong Synchros buffs, and solid Skill, Ultimate, and Costume scaling. |
| Katsuki Bakugo | Weakest of the three at launch. Damage and Knockback are fine, but he lacks Todoroki’s Freeze value and strong Synchros. |
If you plan to reroll, run a Guest Account, skip the tutorial, choose your SR, then clear Chapter 1 to unlock the other banners. To reset, open the menu, return to the title screen, select reroll, and agree to delete your game record before starting a fresh Guest Account.
How this ranking was decided
Placements consider each character’s full kit at launch: regular skill scaling, Ultimate SP cost and effects, Awakening upgrades, costume bonuses, MAIN versus SUB performance, and total investment to reach key power spikes. Starting rarity is factored in, since N and R units take longer to unlock their strongest levels. Rankings reflect the August 2026 launch build and will shift as endgame content and balance updates land, so treat lower-tier specialists as valid picks when a stage’s effects or enemy resistances favor them.
You can grab the game on Android or iOS if you want to build any of these characters yourself.
