Each character in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls comes with nine color schemes, giving every fighter a distinct look before you step into a match. The first four are ready the moment you start, while the other five each sit behind a specific condition you have to meet in-game.
Quick answer: Colors 1–4 are unlocked by default. Color 5 comes from finishing a character’s team Episode, Color 6 from playing 10 Casual matches, and Color 8 from clearing that character’s Action Check and Combo Challenge. Color 9 is tied to the Ultimate Edition. The unlock condition for Color 7 has not been confirmed yet.
All nine costume colors and their unlock conditions
Some colors apply to your whole roster at once, while others are earned per character. The table below sorts out exactly what each color requires.

Colors 1 to 4 are free from the start
The first four colors for every character are open the moment you boot up the game. There is no task to finish and nothing to buy. Head into the customization menu and each one is already selectable, so you can mix looks across your team right away.
Colors you earn through play (5, 6, and 8)
Three of the locked colors come purely from playing the game. Two of them cover several characters at once, while one is earned individually.
Color 5 – clear a team Episode
Color 5 unlocks when you finish the Episode tied to a character in story mode. There are five Episodes in total, one for each of the game’s five teams. Because every team is made up of four fighters, clearing a single Episode grants Color 5 to all four of those characters together.
Color 6 – play 10 Casual matches
Color 6 is the easiest of the locked set and applies to every character at the same time. Play 10 matches in the Casual mode and it unlocks across your whole roster. The result of each match does not matter, so wins and losses both count toward the total.
Color 8 – finish the Action Check and Combo Challenge
Color 8 is handled per character. To claim it for a fighter, complete both that character’s Action Check and their Combo Challenge. These are the training and challenge modes that walk you through a character’s moves and combos, and clearing them rewards the alternate color for that specific fighter.
Color 7 is not confirmed yet
The way to obtain Color 7 has not been detailed. There is no confirmed task, purchase, or milestone attached to it right now. Until the developer explains the method, treat this color as pending and focus on the ones you can already earn.
Color 9 requires the Ultimate Edition
Color 9 cannot be earned through play. It is delivered as the Animated Chromatic color unlock for all 20 launch characters, and that unlock is exclusive to the Ultimate Edition, which runs $99.99. If you own a different edition, this color will not appear in your customization menu.

How to confirm a color unlocked
Open a character’s customization or color-select screen. A newly earned color appears as a selectable option there instead of showing a locked marker. If a color you expected is still locked, check the exact requirement first. Color 5 needs the full team Episode cleared, Color 6 needs a full count of 10 Casual matches, and Color 8 needs both the Action Check and the Combo Challenge finished for that fighter, not just one of the two.
