Palia: How to Complete the Trading Tips Quest

Plush trading in Palia is gated behind a permit, and the permit comes from a short quiz Zeki set up in the Underground. Until you clear it, every trading kiosk turns you away with the same brush-off from Zeki: “Paws off! If you wanna trade, come get a permit, pal!” The quest that lifts that block is Trading Tips, and it takes only a few minutes once you know the three correct answers.

Quick answer: Talk to Zeki, then answer the Quiz-o-matic with “Another limited release special plush!”, “Enjoy my new potato in peace!”, and “Find someone else to trade with.” Return to Zeki to collect a Trading Pass and a Potato Pod Prize Bag.

Quiz-o-matic answers for the Trading Tips quiz

All three questions come from the Quiz-o-matic, a small Zeki doll parked beside the rug displays to the left of his stand in the Underground. Wrong picks carry no penalty — the machine simply lets you choose again — but here is the full set so you can clear it on the first pass.

How to start Trading Tips in the Underground

The quest is a Discovery Quest handed out by the kiosks themselves. You do not pick it up from a villager’s dialogue tree — you have to walk up to one of the trading stations and try to use it.

Get into the Underground Black Market beneath Kilima Village. The most direct route is through Zeki’s General Store — head behind the counter, turn left through the doorway, go downstairs, and interact with the loose book on the bookshelf. Players who have progressed the Wares in Low Places quest or Reth’s Piece of Cake quest also have entrances through The Sewers and Reth’s Storeroom.

Interact with any Plush Trading kiosk in the Underground. There are several scattered around the arcade area, and touching one adds Trading Tips to your quest log with the objective to ask Zeki about a trading permit. The same quest also triggers from an Artifact Trading Kiosk near the Elderwood Central Stables.

Find Zeki at his booth and ask about the permit. He explains that trading plushies requires passing his quiz, and the objective flips to “Pass the quiz.”

Taking the quiz and turning in the quest

Walk to the Quiz-o-matic doll to Zeki’s left, near the rug displays, and interact with it. The machine greets you with a “Nyaaa!” and opens with Question #1 about the Giga Frogbert plush.

Pick “Another limited release special plush!” from the four options. The other choices — a L’il Guy Plush, a Maji Market Chapaa Plush, or a Striped Chapaa Plush — are all treated as unfair trades for a one-of-a-kind item.

Answer Question #2 about swapping Potato Pods with “Enjoy my new potato in peace!” This one is testing whether you understand that completed trades are final — the options about stealing the old pod back or reversing the trade are the wrong reads.

For Question #3 on a denied trade offer, choose “Find someone else to trade with.” Blackmail, begging, and offering gold instead are the decoy answers.

Once the Quiz-o-matic confirms you passed, the objective changes to “Return to Zeki” and the quest is marked Ready to Turn In. Find Zeki and pick the “I passed the trading quiz!” dialogue option.

Note: If Zeki has wandered off from the Underground by the time you finish, check the General Store, Ormuu’s Horn Inn, or his house outside Kilima Village near the windmill behind the library.

Rewards and how to confirm it worked

Handing the quest in produces a “Trading Tips Quest Completed!” banner along with two reward pickups.

The clearest confirmation is behavioral. Walk back to any trading kiosk in the Underground and interact with it. Instead of Zeki’s permit warning, the station now opens the trading interface so you can send and receive plush offers.

Common reasons the quest does not progress

You never touched a kiosk. The quest only appears after interacting with a Plush Trading station in the Underground or an Artifact Trading Kiosk near the Elderwood Central Stables.
You spoke to Zeki before triggering the quest. The permit conversation only unlocks once Trading Tips is active.
You passed the quiz but skipped the turn-in. The Trading Pass is only granted when Zeki closes the quest out.

Trading Tips has been in the game since Build 0.185, and the answer set has stayed consistent since. Once the pass is in your inventory, every kiosk in the Underground is open to you, which is where the actual plush hunting begins.
