Palworld: How to Cheese Blazamut Ryu With Explosion Resistance

Stacking explosion resistance on a Bastigor team zeroes out the raid boss's three biggest hits in both Normal and Ultra.

Stacking explosion resistance on a Bastigor team zeroes out the raid boss’s three biggest hits in both Normal and Ultra.

Blazamut Ryu punishes teams with three attacks that flatten Pals outright: Magna Crush, Brawn Impact, and Blast Cannon. All three are classified as explosion damage, and that single detail is what turns the fight from a survival test into a damage race. If your Pals carry enough explosion resistance, those attacks stop registering damage entirely.

Quick answer: Feed your combat Pals Seafood Pasta before summoning Blazamut Ryu. The explosion resistance it grants nullifies Magna Crush, Brawn Impact, and Blast Cannon, so your team takes zero damage from the boss’s heaviest hits in both the Normal and Ultra raid.

Where explosion resistance comes from

There are four ways to put explosion resistance on the board, and they stack from different slots. That matters because it lets you cover the boss’s explosive kit without giving up an offensive passive slot on your Pals.

Heavily ArmoredPal passive skill
Explosion-Resistant UndershirtPlayer accessory

Seafood Pasta is the version worth building around. Because it comes from food rather than a passive, your Pals keep a free slot for something like Demon God instead of spending it on Heavily Armored. You get the same immunity to the boss’s explosive attacks and keep full attack output.

The Bastigor team setup

Bastigor is the anchor here. It hits hard against Blazamut Ryu, but on a normal build it folds to Brawn Impact. Explosion resistance removes that weakness completely, which is why the Pal goes from risky to reliable.

Run a party of level 80 Bastigors with Diamond Body, Demon God, Serenity, and Immortality. For active skills, Geyser Gush, Hydro Slicer, and Sand Twister cover both halves of the fight — water pressure early, ground damage once the boss shifts to its Electric form.

A tuned Bastigor at level 80 sits around 14,175 HP, 4,268 Attack, and 3,333 Defense on the Seafood Pasta build. On the player side, Heat-Resistant Ancient Armor handles the fire damage, and the Explosion-Resistant Undershirt covers your own character against the same three attacks.

Why Seafood Pasta beats the Heavily Armored build

You can reach the same immunity through the Heavily Armored passive, but you pay for it in stats. Running the passive means dropping an offensive passive, and the food slot then has to make up the difference. The three configurations compare like this, with the Pasta build treated as the baseline.

BuildAttackDefense
Seafood Pasta + Demon God4,268 (100%)3,333 (100%)
Heavily Armored + Defense food3,568 (84%)4,036 (121%)
Heavily Armored + Attack food4,460 (104%)3,229 (97%)

The Heavily Armored plus attack food route edges ahead on raw Attack, but it gives up defense. The Pasta build is the balanced option, and it is the easier one to keep consistent across a full party since you only have to feed everyone the same dish.

Note: if you swap Seafood Pasta out for defense food without a replacement resistance source, the cheese collapses. Bastigors start eating burn damage and heavy physical hits, and the party thins out fast.

Running the raid

Feed every Bastigor in the party Seafood Pasta before you go anywhere near the altar. The buff has to be active on the Pals themselves, not just the player.
Equip the Explosion-Resistant Undershirt alongside your Heat-Resistant Ancient Armor, then top up with Galeclaw Nikujaga and Mammorest Curry for attack and defense.
Load out with a Drone Launcher and a Plasma Rifle. Ranged weapons let you keep distance while the Bastigors hold the boss’s attention.
Use the Blazamut Ryu (Ultra) Slab at the Summoning Altar. The boss appears the moment you confirm, so there is no window to fix a missing buff afterwards — and the altar itself runs on a cooldown between summons.

Open with your Pals out and hit the boss with Geyser Gush and Hydro Slicer during the Fire and Dragon phase, adding rifle fire from range.

When Blazamut Ryu drains its first health bar, it regenerates and switches to Electric. Swap your mount and lean on Sand Twister for the ground damage the second phase wants.

How to tell the cheese is working

The confirmation is immediate and visual. When Blazamut Ryu lands Brawn Impact, Magna Crush, or Blast Cannon, your Bastigors should take no damage at all — no health bar movement, no knockdown. If you see chunks coming off their HP from those specific attacks, the explosion resistance is not applied.

Two things cause that. Either the Seafood Pasta buff expired or was never fed, or the Pal you are watching is not part of the fed group. Recall, re-feed, and resummon. Bear in mind that explosion resistance only covers those three attacks — burn damage and the boss’s Electric-phase moves still land normally.

What the Ultra raid drops

A completed Ultra run pays out crafting and progression materials rather than a catch. Blazamut Ryu cannot be captured during the raid itself.

The Ultra Slab in that list is the part worth protecting. Each win hands back a slab for the next Ultra attempt, so once the explosion resistance setup is working you can loop the raid without hunting slab fragments in the Cherry Blossom Cave dungeons again. Keep a stock of Seafood Pasta cooked and the loop runs as long as you want it to.
