A single bounty in Runaways pays more than most full towns’ worth of looting. Rewards seen on posters run from about $20,500 up to $31,500, which is enough to buy heavy armor, a bigger bag, and fuel for the rest of the run in one stop. The catch is that the poster is rare, only appears in one type of building, and the target is usually guarded.
Quick answer: Walk into the pawn shop (TrashAmerica) in each town and look at the poster wall. If a WANTED DEAD poster is there, press E to take it, follow the arrow on the poster to the marked location, and kill the target on the top floor of the building to bank the listed cash.
Where bounty posters spawn in Runaways
Bounty posters only appear inside pawn shops. Nothing on the road, in houses, or at gas stations will produce one, so the pawn shop wall is the only thing worth checking. The spawn chance is roughly 2% per shop, which is why several towns can pass without a single poster.
There is also a map condition attached to it. A bounty will only trigger when a military base, park, or camp sits next to the city you are in, since that is where the target has to hide. A town with no hostile location nearby will never show a poster no matter how many times you walk in.
When one does spawn, picking it up gives you the reward value, the target’s last known location, the distance, and a directional arrow that rotates as you turn. More than one poster can appear across a single run, so keep checking shops even after you have cashed one in.

Add to Google Preferences →How to reroll the bounty spawn with a quick rejoin
Waiting for a 2% roll while driving town to town is slow. The faster method is to reroll the first town instead of playing through it.
Note: the Bounty Hunter class does not force a poster to spawn and does not appear to raise the rate. It is bought for its machete, pistol, and movement speed, not as a bounty booster.
What to buy before you drive to the bounty
No specific gear is required to accept a bounty, but turning up with a melee weapon and no healing is how runs end early. Buy the kit while you are still standing in the pawn shop that gave you the poster, then refuel before leaving town.
| Item | Why you take it |
|---|---|
| Small Bag | Extra slots so healing and repair items fit alongside loot |
| Mace | Melee backup when ammunition runs dry |
| Grenade | Clears grouped guards at an entrance |
| Small Armor | Cuts damage from the target’s escort |
| Repair Kits | Fixes the car after ramming guards or taking fire |
| Blue Cow | Baits guards toward you so they can be run over |
| 5 Medium Med Kits / Chicken Bucket | Sustained healing through the building fight |

Armor is worth equipping the moment you buy it rather than leaving it sitting in a slot. Select it from the hotbar and put it on before you start driving, since the first shots at a base often land before you are out of the car.

Cowboy bounty vs Military Boss bounty
Two target types exist, and the poster’s last-seen location tells you which one you are driving toward. Read it before committing, because the payout is similar while the difficulty is not.
| Target | Weapons | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Cowboy | Pistol and shotgun | The easier fight. Farms and open ground give clear sightlines and easy car access for a ranged approach. |
| Military Boss | Heavy weaponry | The harder fight. Many armed, armored guards and tight interiors, but a Gatling Gun is available on site. |
Both bosses sit on the top floor of their building. On a farm that means the upper level of the red barn; at a base it is the top of the main structure.

How to confirm the bounty paid out
The moment the target dies, a TARGET ELIMINATED – BOUNTY GRANTED message appears on screen and the exact figure printed on the poster is added to your cash. There is no turn-in step and no need to drive the poster back to a pawn shop.
The poster can stay in your inventory after the kill, which is useful while you are still navigating out of the area. Spend the money on survivability first, since you will usually be wanted by police on the way back into town. Heavy armor, a weapon upgrade, and a full tank matter more than extra loot slots at that point.
Why a bounty poster never appears
- You are checking the wrong building. Only the pawn shop wall holds a poster.
- The town has no military base, park, or camp next to it, so the bounty cannot be placed.
- The roll simply failed. At around 2% per shop, several empty walls in a row is normal.
- You equipped Bounty Hunter expecting a guaranteed spawn. The class does not generate posters.
Classes and vehicles that make bounty runs faster
Classes and cars are bought in the lobby, not during a run, and both are permanent once purchased. For bounty hunting specifically, Breacher and Ex-Military are the picks, since they start you with combat gear rather than utility.

| Vehicle | Best for |
|---|---|
| Chunk Mover | Free players; bulk for ramming guards |
| GR8R | Free players; solid all-round travel |
| Tesla | Paid option; speed between towns |
| Reventador | Paid option; fastest reroll and escape runs |
Treat the bounty as a bonus layered on top of a normal run rather than guaranteed income. Keep the car fuelled, check every pawn shop wall on the way through, and when a poster finally shows up, buy the kit before you drive rather than after you have already taken fire.
