Fortnite’s v42.10 patch is the midpoint of Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, and it touches three modes at once. Battle Royale gets a fresh set of Loot Hacks and Sprites, Fortnite OG rolls over into Chapter 1 Season X, and LEGO Fortnite Odyssey starts its Batman crossover.

New Loot Hacks and how Sprite Dust spending works
Loot Hacks are the season’s personal loot pool system. You spend Sprite Dust to hack specific weapons and items into your own match, and hacked items then have a chance to drop from any Chest you open. Other players do not share your configuration, so two squadmates opening the same Chest can pull different results.
Six new options replace the previous lineup with this patch.

A reworked Sweeper Shotgun also returns to the loot pool alongside the hack changes, so the close-range meta shifts even if you never touch the Override menu.
Each hack costs Sprite Dust to unlock and more Dust to raise its drop weighting. If you commit to the wrong ones, you can reset your Loot Hack configuration at any time and get the Dust back, which makes experimenting cheap in practice. Rocket Ram and the assault rifles are the safest first buys, since mobility and a reliable mid-range gun cover the most situations.
You know a hack is active when it shows as unlocked in the menu and your Sprite Dust balance drops by the listed amount. Confirmation in-match comes the first time a hacked item falls out of a Chest.
Three new Sprites join the Chapter 7 Season 4 pool
Three more Sprites are catchable on the Island. Two of them come from the community Design a Sprite contest, and the third is an Epic original.
- X-Ray Sprite, which briefly reveals players through walls and other objects.
- Onigiri Sprite, which makes consumables restore extra health.
- A third knight-themed Sprite whose ability has not been detailed.
Everything you collected in Chapter 7 Season 3 lives in the Sprite Garden, and this season’s quality-of-life work carries over: you can see whether you have already caught a Sprite while you are in a match, names appear when you get close, rare summons cost less Dust, and the hold-to-summon time is shorter.
Big Heads and Prop Hunt Match Overrides
Match Overrides are the server-wide rule changes claimed from Override Consoles, and the first squad to reach one gets the effect for the whole lobby. Claiming a Rare or Mythic Squad Override also pings your squad’s location on the map, so it is a trade rather than a free power spike.
Two new cartridges join the rotation with 42.10. Big Heads is the returning April Fool’s effect that inflates everyone’s head, and Prop Hunt turns players into props, which makes clearing a building considerably slower.
Fortnite OG Season X: New POIs and unvaulted loot
Fortnite OG moves to Chapter 1 Season X with this patch, following the Final Showdown live event. The map picks up Tilted Town, Starry Suburbs, and The Meteor, and there is a new OG Pass with a Victory Umbrella and remixed versions of X-Lord, Ultima Knight, and Catalyst.
The loot pool is where Season X actually changes how matches play. The B.R.U.T.E. mech and the Automatic Sniper Rifle are the two returns most likely to define fights.

Tilted Town will absorb most of the early-game traffic, as it always has. The Meteor is the quieter landmark of the three.
Batman comes to LEGO Fortnite Odyssey
Batman’s villains have scattered pieces of Gotham City across the Odyssey island, and henchmen have rifted in with them. Wayne Manor arrives as a location, and you recruit Batman himself by visiting the Gotham-themed sites and finishing the assignments he hands out.
On the building side, the Batmobile and The Bat are both craftable as vehicles. Three gadgets unlock through Odyssey quests: the Batglider, the Bat Grapnel, and the Bat-Signal. The crossover is not dropping all at once, though. Content rolls out in weekly batches through October 15, 2026, so anything missing on day one is likely scheduled rather than gone.
Power Hours and the new story quests
Power Hours returns on Saturday, September 5, closing out the three-day Override roadmap. Specific start times for that session have not been confirmed.
On the story side, the Geno: The Ultimate Reality quests unlocked with the update itself. The second part of the Wrixel (Ziggy): Get Crafty line comes later, roughly four weeks out from Update Day. Cheat Codes, meanwhile, keep spawning inside named locations and landmarks rather than in open terrain, and Lifty Lodge is a dependable place to start a route if you are hunting them systematically.
One thing worth planning around: Rocket Racing is scheduled to be removed from Fortnite in about a month. If you have progress or cosmetics tied to it, that is the mode to spend time in before the rest of the season’s roadmap fills up.
