From Above picks up straight after Smoke and Ashes, and it is the game’s way of teaching you how Coen moves as a vampire. The objective list is short — reach the tower, climb it, scout the area — but the middle step trips people up because ordinary jumping will not get you to the top. Wall movement and teleporting do all the work here.
Quick answer: Leave Laslea village and head roughly 200m southwest to the tower, kill the soldiers at the bonfire, then use Planeshift and Shadowstep on the scaffolding at the back to climb. At the vantage point, sweep the camera until three white dots appear and investigate all three to finish the quest.
Abilities you need before climbing the tower
The climb only works at night, because Coen needs his Vrakhir abilities to be active. Three of them matter for this quest, and knowing which one solves which gap is most of the battle.
| Ability | What it does | When to use it here |
|---|---|---|
| Planeshift | Lets Coen walk across flat walls and ceilings. Drains Stamina. | Covering the stone faces of the tower between platforms. |
| Shadowstep | Aim and release to teleport to a spot. Hold Q on PC, hold R2/RT on console. | Crossing gaps, reaching the first wooden platform, skipping awkward corners. |
| Clawride | Slides Coen down walls without spending Stamina. | Getting back down after scouting. |
Note: Stamina is the real limit on Planeshift. If Coen drops off a wall halfway up, you ran the meter dry rather than mistimed the input.

Climb to the top of the tower

Scout the area from the vantage point

You know it worked when the quest updates and the surrounding map fills in with new question mark icons. Those markers are the points of interest the scout revealed, and they are what makes the tower worth the climb.
Why the climb fails and how to fix it
Falls during this quest almost always come down to one of a handful of causes, and each has a direct fix.
| What happens | Fix |
|---|---|
| Coen cannot use wall movement at all | It is daytime. Wait for night so the vampire abilities are available. |
| He drops off the wall partway up | Stamina ran out. Break the climb into shorter runs with a platform landing between them. |
| “Out of range” blocks the teleport | The target is too far. Cancel, move closer, and aim at a nearer ledge. |
| You keep falling at the upper corner | Skip the corner and teleport straight to the higher point instead. |
| No investigate prompt while scouting | The camera is off target. Sweep slowly toward the white dots until the prompt appears. |
The mechanics you practise here carry over to every Scouting Tower in Vale Sangora, so it is worth getting comfortable with the rhythm of teleport, wall run, land. Clearing towers does not advance the clock, which makes them a cheap way to fill in the map early while your family’s countdown is still generous. Clawride handles the trip back down without touching your Stamina.
