In Enshrouded 1.0 there are two ways to get Shroud Nexus. You can craft it at the Alchemist from 8 Shroud Particles, 4 Shroud Adhesive and 10 Mint Mushroom Meat, or you can take it from Fell Monstrosities, Fell Sicklescythes and Fell Cyclopes. You need 5 of them to upgrade your Flame Altar to Level 4.
Quick answer: Craft 1 Shroud Nexus at the Alchemist (8 Shroud Particles, 4 Shroud Adhesive, 10 Mint Mushroom Meat), or kill a Fell Monstrosity, Fell Sicklescythe or Fell Cyclops for a guaranteed 1 per kill.
Shroud Nexus is an Epic crafting material. Its item text reads “Highly concentrated Shroud energy, bundled in a pulsating core.”
How to craft Shroud Nexus
The Alchemist is one of the crafters you rescue. He makes Shroud Nexus one at a time, and the recipe only shows up after two conditions are met.

All three ingredients come from the Shroud or from creatures that live in it. The Nomad Highlands Shroud is the first place where you can find all three.

| Ingredient | Per craft | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Shroud Particles | 8 | Fell enemies; the Shroud in Nomad Highlands, Kindlewastes, Albaneve Summits |
| Shroud Adhesive | 4 | Shroud Flayers yield this material, and you first encounter them in the Nomad Highlands Shroud. |
| Mint Mushroom Meat | 10 | Grows in the Nomad Highlands Shroud |

Shroud Nexus drops from Fell enemies
Three large Fell enemies drop Shroud Nexus. The drop is not random. Each kill gives you exactly one.
| Enemy | Shroud Nexus | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|
| Fell Monstrosity | 1 every kill | Nomad Highlands, Kindlewastes, Albaneve Summits, Veilwater Basin, Cinder’s Cradle |
| Fell Sicklescythe | 1 every kill | Kindlewastes, Albaneve Summits, Veilwater Basin, Cinder’s Cradle, a Hollow Halls |
| Fell Cyclops | 1 every kill | Albaneve Summits, Cinder’s Cradle |
Each of these enemies also drops its head, which is a trophy item. Of the three, only the Fell Monstrosity appears in the Nomad Highlands, so it is the earliest one you can farm.

Shroud Nexus for Flame Altar Level 4
Flame Altar Level 3 costs 5 Shroud Cores. At Level 4, Shroud Nexus takes the place of Shroud Core, so this is the point where most players first need 5 Shroud Nexus.
To craft all five at the Alchemist, you need 40 Shroud Particles, 20 Shroud Adhesive and 50 Mint Mushroom Meat. The other early option is to hunt Fell Monstrosities in the Nomad Highlands. Each kill gives you one Shroud Nexus, so five kills cover the upgrade.
