The Blood of Dawnwalker: How to Climb the Cathedral Tower in Svartrau City

Where the tower sits, which vampiric abilities the climb needs, and the four map locations scouting unlocks.

Where the tower sits, which vampiric abilities the climb needs, and the four map locations scouting unlocks.

The Cathedral Tower is the tallest of the three Scouting Towers packed into Svartrau City, and it is the one most players stall on. The cathedral itself dominates the eastern side of the city, and there is no staircase to the top — the route is scaffolding, stained glass, and a rooftop hop that only works once Coen has his vampiric traversal abilities.

Quick answer: Go to the Cathedral Complex at night, circle to the side of the building, climb the scaffolding with Clawride until you reach the roof, then take the prompt to the cross at the peak and survey each highlighted spot. That marks Neustadt, Middens, Gewandhausplatz, and St. Rudel’s cemetery on your map and pays out 100 XP.

Cathedral Tower location and requirements

The tower is the cathedral spire inside the Cathedral Complex, in the eastern part of Svartrau City. It shows up on the world map as a white tower icon, the same marker used for the other ten Scouting Towers across Vale Sangora. The two other city towers, Neustadt and Market, are separate climbs and do not overlap with what this one reveals.

The night requirement is not a suggestion. Scouting Towers are built around vampiric movement, and without Shadowstep and wall-walking you cannot reach the ledges that link the scaffolding to the roof. If those skills are not unlocked yet, the climb is simply not available to you, no matter how many angles you try during the day.

How to climb the Cathedral Tower

Open the map, set a marker on the Cathedral Tower icon, and travel to the Cathedral Complex. The compass at the top of the screen counts down the distance as you close in, so follow it until the cathedral fills the screen.

Do not stop at the main doors. Run around to the side of the building and look for the wooden scaffolding propped against the wall — that is the only entry point for the climb.

Hold the Clawride input and scale the scaffolding. Keep going past the boards and up across the stained glass windows — the ability lets Coen stick to the vertical surfaces the whole way up.
Once you pull yourself onto the rooftop, look toward the spire. A prompt appears to carry Coen up to the cross at the very top, which is where the survey points live.
At the peak, aim at each highlighted point in the distance and press the survey prompt. A short cinematic plays for each one as the camera sweeps out over the city.

Use Clawride again to come back down the tower rather than dropping off the edge. The same ability handles the descent safely, and you can ride the north side down into the Cathedral Complex garden if you plan to keep exploring.

What scouting from the Cathedral Tower reveals

Surveying from the cross adds four new places of interest to the world map, all of them inside or bordering Svartrau City:

  • Neustadt
  • Middens
  • Gewandhausplatz
  • St. Rudel’s cemetery

Beyond the named districts, tagging towers is how the open world fills in generally. Points of interest appear as question mark icons across the map, and those unresolved markers are what lead you to Sacred Stones, Ancient Circles, Haunted Sites, and the rest of the city’s activities.

How to confirm the tower registered

Two things tell you the climb counted. You get a +100 XP notification on screen after surveying, and when you open the map the four new location names are printed where there was previously blank city. If the map still looks empty, you missed one or more of the survey prompts at the peak — go back up and sweep the camera across every highlighted direction before descending.

The most common reasons the climb does not work are straightforward. Attempting it during daylight leaves you without the traversal abilities the route depends on. Starting from the front doors instead of the side scaffolding gives you nothing to Clawride onto. And skipping the final prompt to the cross means you never reach the survey points, even though you are technically on the cathedral roof.

Why the Cathedral Tower is worth doing early

Coen has 30 days and nights to save his family, and most quests eat time units off that clock. Scouting Towers do not. Climbing them costs you nothing but real-world minutes, which makes them the cheapest way to expand what you can see on the map — and there is nothing stopping you from clearing several in a single night.

The Cathedral Tower does not hide a chest or a skill manual the way the countryside towers do, so the map reveal and the XP are the whole payout here. It is also one of the eleven towers tied to the Bird’s-Eye View trophy and achievement, which unlocks once every tower in Vale Sangora has been climbed and scouted. Since you are already standing in the Cathedral Complex, the Neustadt and Market towers elsewhere in the city are the natural next two to knock out on the same night.
