Fortnite X-Ray Sprite: How to Get It and What It Does

The X-Ray Sprite arrived in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 as one of the community-designed winners of the Design a Sprite contest. It carries Legendary rarity and a combat-focused ability, and you claim it out in the Battle Royale, not from the lobby menu.

Quick answer: Drop into a real match, find Epic or Legendary Cheat Codes at POIs and Landmarks, and enter them until the X-Ray Sprite drops. Once you extract it, its power periodically marks enemies around you.

How to Get the X-Ray Sprite in Fortnite

The X-Ray Sprite is a Legendary drop, so it only appears inside Epic or Legendary Cheat Codes scattered across the island. Entering higher-rarity Cheat Codes is the most reliable route, and it comes down to luck each time you interact with one.

Load into a standard Battle Royale match against real players. Bot Lobbies will not produce the X-Ray Sprite, so avoid them if this is your goal.

Land at a busy POI or Landmark and hunt for Cheat Codes. They appear on rocks and objects throughout every named location, and interacting with them rolls for a Sprite.

Keep looting Chests as backup. Chests can also yield the Sprite, and clearing them keeps you armed while you search for more Cheat Codes.

Eliminate opponents who are carrying it. If another player has the X-Ray Sprite, defeating them lets you pick it up from their drops.

Trade with friends as a last resort. If you have something they want, a Gold Sprite makes an especially strong trade-up for the X-Ray Sprite.

Once you extract it, the Sprite is stored safely in your Sprite Garden. You do not need to rush, since the X-Ray Sprite stays available to collect until October 31, 2026.

Best POIs to Find the X-Ray Sprite

Any named location can spawn Cheat Codes, but a handful of spots tend to hold plenty of them and stay busy enough to trade for Sprites through eliminations. Focus your searches on these areas.

Note: Lobby Hack Codes are separate from in-match Cheat Codes. Those are entered from the main menu and reward Cheat Master Sprites, not the X-Ray Sprite you find on the island.

What the X-Ray Sprite Does

The X-Ray Sprite periodically marks enemies in an area around you. That marking works like the Flare Gun, revealing opponent positions, though it triggers less frequently than the gun does.

Leveling it up improves both the marking speed and the size of the detection radius. You raise its level the same way as other Sprites, by eliminating players, opening containers, and extracting Sprites during your matches.

In terms of value, the X-Ray Sprite is a strong pick. It does not add mobility like the Tails and Sonic Sprites or extra defense like the Overshield Sprite, but constant enemy tracking gives you a clear edge in finding and eliminating targets.

Beyond the base version, the X-Ray Sprite has additional variants that keep its marking ability and stack an extra bonus on top. The table below lists each one and its added effect.

The simplest path is to keep dropping into full lobbies, chain Cheat Code interactions at the POIs above, and extract the X-Ray Sprite before the October 31st window closes. Once it is in your Sprite Garden, level it up through eliminations and container openings to widen its marking radius.
