The Shoebill is a limited Uncommon pet that arrived in Adopt Me! on October 16, 2026, with week three of the Halloween Event. Unlike the other Candy Corn pets, it isn’t on sale from the start. First you run a short errand: dig items out of the Crypt, hand them to two noisy guests in the Hotel, and wait for a very tired bird to open its door.
Quick answer: Open Crypt graves with Crypt Keys until you hold 3 Lost Socks and 1 Headphones. Give them to the guest doors upstairs in the Hotel, then buy the Shoebill for 18,000 Candy Corn.
What to do with a Lost Sock: take it to the Hotel, climb the left staircase in the lobby to the rooms 1-7 hallway, and press E at door 6. The guest behind it takes your socks one at a time. The rock-music guest next to door 7 takes the Headphones, and door 7 is the Shoebill’s room.
The game tracks this for you. Open your Journal to the Halloween 2026 page and the Shoebill appears as the one pet you can’t adopt yet, with a note pointing you to the Lost Sock at the Crypt.
Shoebill unlock requirements
Everything the unlock needs comes out of one place, the Crypt, and gets spent in another, the Hotel.
| Item | Amount | Source | Spent at |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lost Sock | 3 | Crypt graves | Hotel door (missing socks) |
| Headphones | 1 | Crypt graves | Hotel door (loud music) |
| Crypt Key | 1 per grave | Task Board, minigames | Crypt graves |
| Candy Corn | 18,000 | Event activities | Shoebill purchase |
The Lost Sock and the Headphones are both Uncommon event items, and neither can be traded. You can’t buy them from another player or borrow a friend’s spare, so you have to pull all four yourself.
Lost Socks and Headphones are temporary. They vanish from every inventory when the Halloween Event ends on October 31, so turn them in before then.

Add to Google Preferences →How to get Crypt Keys
Every grave in the Crypt costs one Crypt Key, so your key supply sets the pace. Walk up to a grave without one and you get the message “You need a Crypt Key to open this…”
| Source | Keys |
|---|---|
| Task Board event tasks | 1 per task, 3 tasks a day |
| Task Board completion bonus | 1 for finishing all 3 |
| Ghost Gallery | 1 for beating the boss |
| Hauntlet 2 | Up to 2 per run |
| Stitches’ Spotlight | 1 per round, if you win the pick |
One of the Halloween daily tasks on the Task Board is about the socks themselves: “Shoebills Off Household”, “Find Lost Sock at the Crypt to calm down Shoebill’s neighbors!” (0/1), with a Crypt Key as its reward. In Ghost Gallery, equip one of your own pets before the round: in our rounds with no pet out, the game lent us a Practice Dog and the round scored 0 with no key (see how to play Ghost Gallery).

The Task Board is the reliable supply at four keys a day. Hauntlet 2 pays out the most per run when you get far enough, and Ghost Gallery is a solid second. Four keys is the theoretical minimum for the unlock, but graves don’t always give you what you want, so plan to spend more.
Where to find Lost Socks and Headphones in the Crypt
The Crypt is a multi-level dungeon in the Halloween area, next to the Manor. Walk there by following the CRYPT road sign, or use the pumpkin teleport prompt and pick Crypt from the list. Opening graves also reveals ladders, with the pop-up “You found a ladder that leads deeper…”, which take you down to the next level.
In a typical run, the Headphones show up on Lower Level II and the Lost Socks turn up on Lower Level III and Lower Level IV. Quest items aren’t locked to one floor, though, so keep opening graves and heading down until all four have dropped. In our own runs, “You found Lost Sock!” came from a coffin on Lower Level I and from the right-hand coffin on Lower Level IV.
- A grave can pay out 1,000 to 3,000 Candy Corn instead of a quest item.
- No fixed drop rate is published for the socks or the Headphones.
- Once you hold 3 Lost Socks and 1 Headphones, the Crypt stops dropping them.
- The bottom of the Crypt holds the Mummy Spider, so keys spent hunting socks also move you toward it.
If you cleared the Crypt earlier in the event, some levels may have no locked graves left. Push down to the bottom, claim the reward there, and reset the Crypt rewards. That gives you a fresh set of graves for another run.
Each drop triggers a pop-up such as “You found Lost Sock!” or “You found Headphones!” Before you leave, open your Backpack and switch to the Halloween tab. You should see the Headphones and three Lost Socks.

How to unlock the Shoebill in the Hotel
The Hotel errand is a tiny sitcom. One guest blasts rock music, another has lost their socks, and the Shoebill next door can’t get any rest. Fix both problems and its door opens.

If you press E with no sock left in your backpack, a line at the bottom of the screen reads “You need a Lost Sock from The Crypt”. That is where we stopped after two socks, so go back to the Crypt for the next one.

Door 7 is the Shoebill’s room. Before the errand is done, its bubbles read “Clack, clack… All this noise!! I can’t hear my own beak, let alone my thoughts.”, “Whatever they need… please!”, “The arguing has to stop!” and “Clackclackclackclackclackclack…”. We saw no E prompt or price on door 7 while a sock was still missing.

In our game the three doors were 6, 7 and the one left of 7 in the rooms 1-7 hallway. Room numbers aren’t the same for every player. Some runs use Rooms 5, 6, and 7, others 103, 102, and 101. Find the doors by what’s happening behind them, loud music or missing socks, not by a specific number.
Ways to get the Shoebill after unlocking it
Handing over the items doesn’t give you a free pet. It makes the Shoebill available to buy or hatch.
| Method | Cost | Unlock needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Buy at the Hotel door | 18,000 Candy Corn | Yes |
| Basic Egg | 400 Pet Releaser Tickets | Yes |
| Admin Abuse Egg | Free | Yes |
| Trading | Whatever a player accepts | No |
At 18,000 Candy Corn, the Shoebill is the cheapest of the week-three Candy Corn pets. The Lost Socks can’t be traded, but the pet itself can, so trading is the only route that skips the Crypt entirely. Once the event ends on October 31, the Shoebill leaves the Hotel shop.

How to confirm the Shoebill unlock worked
The game confirms each stage with a clear prompt, in this order:
- The sock guest says “That’s all of them! My toes are saved!”
- A cutscene opens the Shoebill’s door, and it says “Finally… some peace and quiet!”
- The pet’s prompt reads “Shoebill 18000 Candy Corn.”
- After you buy it, a “New Pet Discovered! SHOEBILL” splash appears.
- A “Journal Updated!” window marks the Shoebill on the Halloween page.
If the Shoebill was the last pet you were missing, the Halloween 2026 Journal moves to 13/13, and a Newborn Shoebill follows you back down to the lobby.
