The Western Slopes shrine in The Blood of Dawnwalker is one of the destroyed shrines scattered across Vale Sangora, and it stays useless until you return the idol that Brencis’s men stripped out of it. Until then, no fast travel, no storage, no perk purchases at that spot.
Quick answer: Head into Briar Sloughs and go to the small bandit camp in the clearing directly east of the Coward’s Path shrine. Loot the wooden box next to the tent to pick up the Western Slopes Shrine’s Heart.
Where the Western Slopes Shrine’s Heart is located
The idol never sits at the shrine itself. The destroyed Western Slopes shrine stands southwest of Stelian’s Redoubt, past the forest, but the heart was carried off to a bandit camp northeast of it. On the map, the fastest reference point is the Coward’s Path shrine in Briar Sloughs — the camp is a short run east of it.
Drop a custom marker on the clearing before you set off. The camp sits in thick forest and the surrounding tree cover makes it easy to run past on foot.
How to get the idol from the bandit camp

The container is worth emptying completely. Alongside the idol you get a skill manual and a document that explains why the shrines were torn apart in the first place.

Confirming the shrine is restored
You know it worked when the shrine turns from grey to blue on the map and the Destroyed Shrines: Western Slopes quest closes out. From that point the shrine behaves like any other fast travel point, so you can warp to it, open your storage, buy perks, and wait to pass time.
Note: Restoring the shrine advances the clock by one time segment. With the countdown to rescue your family always running, plan the trip alongside other errands in Briar Sloughs rather than making a dedicated run.
If the heart does not appear in the camp
Two things usually explain a missing idol. The first is that you are looking in the wrong container — the heart is in the wooden box beside the tent, not in the bandits’ pockets or the loose barrels around the fire. The second is that you have not inspected the destroyed shrine yet, which is what activates the trail in the first place.
Hold L2 or LT at the shrine to enter Focus Mode. That reveals the thief’s footprints, and following them leads straight to the camp. Focus Mode also highlights the correct container once you are inside the clearing, which is the quickest way to sort the box from the surrounding clutter.
Western Slopes is one of several destroyed shrines built on the same pattern, so the habit carries over. Inspect the wreckage, follow the tracks in Focus Mode, and expect the idol to be sitting on a corpse, in a chest inside a tent, or on a soldier who is still busy smashing the shrine when you walk up.
