Fisch: All 10 Sky Crystal Locations for the Keeper’s Questline

Every island, NPC trade, and level requirement needed to fill the stone door at Skycrest Island.

Every island, NPC trade, and level requirement needed to fill the stone door at Skycrest Island.

The stone door set into the floor at Skycrest Island has ten empty slots, and each one wants a Sky Crystal. Some are sitting in the open waiting to be picked up. Others are locked behind a trade, a payment, a fishing roll, or an Idol Level you may not have yet. Here is where all ten sit and exactly what each one costs you.

Quick answer: Collect Sky Crystals from Moosewood, Roslit Bay, Forsaken Sanctuary, Snowcap Island, Mossgaw Temple, Terrapin Island, Castaway Island, Ancient Isle, Northern Expedition, and Scoria Reach, then place all ten in the giant floor door at Skycrest Island. The Scoria Reach crystal will not appear until you reach Idol Level 50.

What the 10 Sky Crystals are for

The crystals are the collection step of the Keeper’s Questline. Feeding all ten into the door on Skycrest Island restores Abaia’s Chamber and opens the initial gate, which is what the questline is building toward. Nothing else you do on Skycrest substitutes for them — the door stays shut until the last slot is filled.

The crystals do not all share one name. A few show up in your inventory with specific titles, such as the Living Sky Crystal from Mossgaw Temple and the Mountain Sky Crystal from Castaway Island, while others are simply labeled Sky Crystal. They all count toward the same ten.

Sky Crystals you can walk up and collect

Four of the ten cost nothing but travel time. None of them need an item, a payment, or a conversation.

Moosewood. Head to the back of the island, go into the lighthouse, and climb the stairs all the way up. The crystal sits underneath a glass window panel at the top, near GPS coordinates 686, 252, 318.

Mossgaw Temple. Inside the temple, look for the red coral structure. The Living Sky Crystal rests on top of it, in plain sight once you are in the right room.

Castaway Island. Make your way to the abandoned shipwreck and step onto its deck. The Mountain Sky Crystal is waiting there.

Northern Expedition. This one is off the beaten path. Jump off the side of the mountain and land on the ledge near the entrance to the Heaven’s Rod area — the crystal is sitting on it.

Sky Crystals that need a trade, an errand, or cash

Four more are held by NPCs. Bring the right item or the right amount of money and they hand the crystal over on the spot.

Roslit Bay. The NPC by the campfire wants an albino mutated fish, and it has to be one caught at Skycrest Island. Catch it first, then talk to him to complete the trade.

Forsaken Sanctuary. Go into the skull cave and find the treasure map NPC. He sells the crystal outright for 500,000 C$, so bring the money before you make the trip.

Snowcap Island. Speak to the NPC standing on the wooden deck. He has lost his rod in the cave below the pond, so jump down, pick it up, and bring it back to him for the crystal.

Ancient Isle. The Meteorologist accepts a Lapis, an Opal, or a Moonstone. Any one of the three works, and handing it over gets you the crystal immediately.

Terrapin Island: The Sky Crystal you have to fish up

Terrapin Island is the only crystal that comes out of the water. Fish the stretch where Ollie the Otter spawns and keep casting — the crystal has roughly a 10 percent chance of coming up on any given catch.

Because it is a chance drop, plan for a session rather than a single cast. Nothing about the rod or bait changes the location; you just need to be fishing in the correct spot.

Scoria Reach: The Idol Level 50 Sky Crystal

The tenth crystal is at Scoria Reach, straight ahead of the Scoria Mines. It is the only one with a hard progression requirement attached — you need Idol Level 50 to claim it.

If you are below that, there is no workaround. Grab the other nine, keep leveling, and come back for this one last. It is the piece that finishes the set for most players.

How to confirm a Sky Crystal registered

Every successful pickup or trade throws a message on screen naming what you received, such as “You just got a Sky Crystal!”, “You just got a Living Sky Crystal!”, or “You just got a Mountain Sky Crystal!” If you did not see that line, the crystal did not go into your inventory.

Your quest tracker is the other check. The Keeper of the Sky objective counts your crystals as you collect them, so you can glance at the HUD to see how many of the ten you are still missing before heading back to Skycrest Island.

Why a Sky Crystal is not appearing

Most failed attempts come down to one of four things, and each has a specific fix.

  • Scoria Reach shows nothing: you are under Idol Level 50.
  • The Roslit Bay NPC refuses your fish: it needs to be an albino mutated fish, and it needs to have been caught at Skycrest.
  • The skull cave NPC will not sell: you are short of the 500,000 C$ price.
  • The Meteorologist gives no option: you are not carrying a Lapis, Opal, or Moonstone.

Note: Terrapin Island is the one case where nothing is wrong if you come up empty. It is a percentage roll, so repeated casts in the right water are the answer.

Once all ten are in hand, return to Skycrest Island and place them in the floor door to restore Abaia’s Chamber. The four free pickups are worth grabbing on your first pass through each island, since they cost nothing but travel, which leaves the money, the gem trade, the fishing rolls, and the Idol Level grind as the only things standing between you and an open gate.
