The Tropical Squall is the weather event that gates some of Skycrest’s best content in Fisch, and most players burn a totem on it because they do not know there is a repeatable way to roll for it. There is. It lives inside Abaia’s Chamber, it runs on offerings, and it costs you nothing but the fish you were going to sell anyway.
Quick answer: Fill the Fire of Spirits in Abaia’s Chamber to 100% by offering fish or relics, then wait for the day to flip. At 100%, each new day/night cycle has a chance to trigger a Tropical Squall, with a smaller chance of the rarer Raging Squall.
Requirements before the Tropical Squall can spawn
The method only works once the chamber itself is open. That is the part people skip, and it is not optional.

A weather totem can also force the squall outright. It works, but it consumes an item you will want later, and the Fire of Spirits route can be repeated for free.

Force the day change with a Sundial Totem
The roll happens when the cycle flips, not the moment the meter fills. A full in-game day runs about 25 minutes, split into 12.5 minutes of daylight and 12.5 minutes of night, so waiting it out is perfectly viable if you have something else to fish for.
If you would rather not wait, a Sundial Totem accelerates the celestial cycle and pushes you to the next day much faster. The server announces it — “The celestials are moving significantly faster” — and anyone on the island benefits, so a totem dropped by another player counts for you too. You only get one per cycle; try a second and the game replies with “You have already used a Sundial Totem for this cycle.”
How to confirm the squall spawned
You do not have to guess. A server-wide banner announces it directly: “A Tropical Squall has descended!” The sky and weather indicator change with it. Other events can roll on the same cycle flip and appear alongside it, including a Sovereign Storm (“Hunt the Sovereign Beams across the ocean — relics are abundant!”) or a Blue Whale Migration, so read the banners rather than assuming the first one you see is the squall.
Why the Tropical Squall did not trigger
Three things account for nearly every failed attempt.
- The Fire of Spirits was below 100% when the day changed.
- The cycle never actually flipped, because a Sundial Totem had already been used and you were still inside the same day.
- It simply did not roll. Reaching 100% grants a chance at the weather, not a guarantee, so repeat offerings and repeat cycles are part of the process.
Note: back-to-back successes do happen. Topping the fire up with a single relic and flipping the day again is often enough for a second squall, which makes this worth doing in stretches rather than one attempt at a time.
Raging Squall is the rarer roll
Raging Squall is the harsher variant of the same weather event and appears far less often than the standard Tropical Squall. There is no separate summoning method for it — you are rolling from the same 100% Fire of Spirits state, and the Raging version lands on a much smaller slice of those rolls. In practice that means patience and a stocked inventory rather than a different set of steps.
What the squalls unlock in Skycrest
The reason to farm these events at all is that several pieces of Skycrest progression are locked behind them.

Once the chamber is open, the loop is short enough to fold into normal fishing. Dump your low-value catches into the fire as you go, top it off with a relic when you have one spare, and let the day cycle do the rest — the squall will come around, and you will still have your totems when the extreme idol trials show up.
