Skycrest landed in Fisch on September 5, 2026 as a Fischfest expansion, and it is not a small side area. The floating island carries its own progression track, seven Ancient Idols with their own trials, a ten-crystal questline, a summonable boss, a new companion, and a stack of limited-time content that goes away when Fischfest ends. Almost every reward on the island is gated behind one number, so the order you tackle things in matters more than usual.
Quick answer: Boat from Moosewood Island to Fischfest, sail to the giant waterfall under the floating island, and glide up to land on Skycrest. Collect the Crest Amulet from the Crest of Clarity, then push Idol Favor immediately, because Charms, Sky Crystal placement, and taming Idol Taiga are all locked behind it.
How to get to Skycrest from Moosewood Island
The first NPC worth your time is the Crest of Clarity, who hands over the Crest Amulet. Without it you cannot equip anything the idol trials give you, so take it before you start fishing.
Idol Favor: The gate on everything else
Idol Favor is Skycrest’s own leveling system, separate from your account level. It controls how many Charm slots the Crest Amulet opens up (nine at maximum), whether you can safely place Sky Crystals, and whether Idol Taiga can be tamed at all. An elder NPC on the island raises your Idol Level and pays out XP as you climb.
Because so much is stacked behind it, treat Favor as the first grind rather than a passive stat. Master Hiroto’s timed angler challenges are the fastest source of Favor, and their difficulty scales with your current level, so they stay relevant instead of trivializing themselves.

Ancient Idol trials and how Charms level up
Seven stone-carved Ancient Idols sit around Skycrest: Hayate, Ebisu, Fudo, Nagomi, Goriki, Shunsoku, and Amanojaku. Interacting with a statue starts a multi-stage trial, and each idol has its own set of objectives. Clearing all five stages of one statue’s trial is what pays out that idol’s Charm, such as a Swiftness buff.
Charms are not static. You raise them by catching fish specifically in Skycrest, and their bonuses scale as they level. The stats on offer are Luck, Control, Resilience, Max Weight, Lure Speed, and Progress Speed, so a full nine-slot amulet ends up being a meaningful part of your fishing build rather than a cosmetic collection.
Two Charms sit outside the normal loop. The Titanic Charm and Flash Charm come from extreme idol trials that only run during the Tropical Squall and Raging Squall weather events, so you cannot plan around them — you react when the weather rolls in.
Sanctuary wishes: How to unlock a rod wish
Ryusei at the Sanctuary runs the wishing system, found at the blue crystal altar. You cannot walk up and pick a rod on arrival. You need at least one idol trial stage cleared, then all five stages of a single statue’s trial, before the wish option appears. There is also a short standing quest nearby that asks you to hold still for 60 seconds, which you can knock out while the rest ticks along.
The trial objectives themselves span the whole map, not just Skycrest.

Note: trial four requires the Hang Glider, not the standard Glider. Swapping the two is the most common reason the objective never registers. Gracial Glott is a reliable launch point for building up speed.
Once the wish unlocks, you pick from a list of eligible rods rather than rolling randomly, and the list narrows based on what you already own. ASTRAEUS SERENADE is the strongest all-round pick thanks to its large fishing bar and speed effects, with Crystallis better for Shiny and Sparkling catches, Wingripper for raw speed, and Lullabi as a situational option. Spending a wish on something obtainable through normal play is the one mistake worth avoiding.
Sky Crystals and the Keeper of the Sky questline
The Keeper of the Sky asks you to recover 10 Sky Crystals scattered across the world, including Moosewood, Terrapin Island, Roslit Bay, and Snowcap Island among other spots. Returning each one advances the questline toward restoring Abaia’s Chamber and opening the initial gate.
Finding a crystal does not mean you can use it. Each placement requires a high enough Idol Favor level to be done safely, which is why running this questline alongside Hiroto’s challenges works better than treating them as separate goals.
Fire of Spirits and summoning the Abaia Hunt
The Fire of Spirits only accepts sacrifices during a Tropical Squall. Feeding it caught fish grows the flame, and a larger flame raises Luck and weather spawn rates for everyone nearby, so it pays off even before the boss is involved.
Enough sacrifices summon the Abaia Hunt. The legendary Abaia has to be chased through the subterranean outer ponds first to strip its barrier away, and only then can you follow it into its chamber. The fight itself revolves around dodging its biting attack, making it one of the more mechanically demanding encounters currently in Fisch.
Fireflies and taming the Idol Taiga companion
Four firefly variants roam Skycrest at night: Firefly, Loopy Five, Blue Ghost, and Gombak Bent-Winged. They double as high-tier bait, so catching them is worthwhile even if the companion is not your priority yet.
Taming Idol Taiga requires all three conditions at once — enough Idol Favor, Fireflies in hand, and an active Tropical Squall. Once tamed, it boosts Charm effects, auto-sacrifices low-rarity catches at the Fire of Spirits, generates extra Idol Favor, and actively spears fish, which makes it the single best quality-of-life pickup on the island.
Elder Kaito’s Shop stock and prices
Elder Kaito’s Shop stocks rare goods and rotates its inventory weekly, so it is a repeat visit rather than a one-time stop. Purchases go straight to your hotbar and are used from there.

Limited Fischfest content to clear first
Skycrest mixes permanent and temporary content, and the temporary half is where the deadline pressure sits. Fruit Lover Frank has a fruit-gathering quest running for one week only, with a strong rod hinted as the payout. Ryusei’s limited opportunity at the Sanctuary is also tied to Fischfest winding down.
The Bestiary picked up new entries for both Moosewood Island and Skycrest, and one of those sections is a limited Fischfest set that disappears with the event. Alongside that, more than 20 new side quests from Skycrest locals are available, and some carry rewards you cannot get anywhere else. No end date for Fischfest has been confirmed, so the safe assumption is to clear limited content before permanent content.
New rods, relics, weapons, and the launch code
Five new fishing rods arrived with the update, along with a Harpoon Gun and a Spear, plus two relics — the Crested Relic and the Empyrean Relic. The Harpoon Gun and Spear tie into the more active parts of Skycrest rather than standard fishing.
There is one launch code attached to the update. Open the in-game settings menu, enter SkycrestIsInTheSky, and confirm — a successful redemption shows the reward in your inventory rather than an error line. Launch-window codes expire quickly, so do it before anything else.
Working through Skycrest efficiently comes down to sequencing. Grab the Crest Amulet, redeem the code, push Idol Favor through Hiroto’s challenges while idol trials and side quests tick over in the background, and keep your Fischfest-limited objectives ahead of the permanent ones.
