Update 22 is one of the busier patches RIVALS has shipped. It touches gunplay with a mix of small decimal tweaks and genuine reworks, adds a new primary weapon, rebuilds how daily rewards are handed out, and quietly rewrites how Ranked pairs players and pays out ELO. Not all of it lands with the same weight, so here is every meaningful change sorted by how much it actually shifts a match.
Quick answer: The Minigun’s movement spread cut (0.25°/studs/s to 0.18°/studs/s) and the utility equip cooldown drop from 0.85s to 0.5s are the changes you will feel immediately; the Distortion’s ammo cut from 70 to 45 is the one you can safely ignore.
RIVALS Update 22 tier list: every change ranked
Placements are based on one thing only: how often the change alters what you do in a duel. Raw stat size matters less than how many rounds it touches, so a half-second shaved off every grenade throw outranks a weapon rework you might see once a night. This ranking reflects Update 22, released September 4th, 2026.
| Tier | Changes |
|---|---|
| S | Minigun dynamic spread reduction; utility equip cooldown cut to 0.5s; Wildcat SMG added |
| A | Permafrost slow duration doubled; Freeze Ray freeze and slow buffs; Satchel 150 critical damage on direct hits; ELO formula rework; Login Rewards and Prize Wheels |
| B | Permanent Daily Task rewards (streaks removed); Ranked region locking and stricter verification; contracts sorted by Near Completion; Maul reach and slam rework |
| C | Museum time-of-day lighting and working metal detectors; Bonus Task daily cap of three; new Skin Case, Key Bundle, and charm cosmetics |
| D | Crossbow and Sniper switched to semi-automatic; Burst Rifle burst cooldown increase; Distortion max ammo cut |
S tier: the changes that decide fights
The Minigun buff is the standout because it undoes the weapon’s biggest problem. Dynamic spread while moving drops from 0.25°/studs/s to 0.18°/studs/s, which means strafing no longer scatters your fire across the room. The gun goes back to being a mobile suppression tool instead of something you had to plant your feet for.
Right behind it is the utility equip cooldown change. Flashbangs, Grenades, Jump Pads, Molotovs, Satchels, Warpstones and the rest now come out in 0.5s instead of 0.85s. That third of a second applies every single time you swap, so the whole game feels quicker without any single weapon being touched. The Medkit is the exception and keeps its slower equip.

The Wildcat SMG and how to unlock it
The Wildcat is the first new Standard primary in a while, and it is a close-range SMG built for run-and-gun play. It is also the first weapon in RIVALS with realistic recoil, meaning your camera is pushed upward as you fire and you have to drag it back down to keep your damage on target. Holding the trigger and hoping is not the play here.
Its second trick is the jungle-style reload. Two magazines are taped together, so the first reload is extremely fast, and the one after that is noticeably slower. Get caught in the second reload mid-fight and you are exposed. You can buy the Wildcat outright for 35 keys, and it was also included in the Super Starter Bundle, a 67 Robux pack listed at launch as a seven-day offer that bundles the weapon, a full loadout, the Plasma Wildcat skin, and a batch of keys.

A tier: buffs that restore weapons and rewrite Ranked
Permafrost gets its identity back. Its slow duration doubles from 0.75s to 1.5s, which is long enough to actually chase down or escape from someone again after the weapon was pushed too far in an earlier patch. The Freeze Ray gets a similar treatment, with freeze duration up to 4s and slow duration up to 2s, plus the same 0.5s equip cooldown as everything else in the utility slot.
The Satchel now deals 150 critical damage on a direct hit, turning a mostly area-denial tool into a genuine burst option if you can land it clean.
On the competitive side, the ELO formula now scales directly to the ranks and ratings of everyone in the duel, and it no longer treats every player above 3,600 ELO as equivalent. A 10,000 ELO Archnemesis beating a 5,000 ELO Nemesis may now walk away with almost nothing. In the most lopsided matchups, gains can bottom out at +0 ELO, and those wins award a Stomp charm for a random weapon instead, with the charm theme changing each season.
| Change | Before → After |
|---|---|
| Minigun dynamic spread | 0.25°/studs/s → 0.18°/studs/s |
| Utility equip cooldown | 0.85s → 0.5s |
| Permafrost slow duration | 0.75s → 1.5s |
| Freeze Ray freeze duration | 3s → 4s |
| Freeze Ray slow duration | 1s → 2s |
| Maul reach | 6 → 8 |
| Burst Rifle burst cooldown | 0.07s → 0.08s |
| Distortion max ammo | 70 → 45 |
B tier: rewards, matchmaking access, and the Maul rework
Login Rewards are new and require nothing but opening the game. You claim a free reward each day at the bottom of the Daily Shop, refreshing whenever the shop does, and every seventh day pays out a grand prize that can include Skin Tickets.
Task Streaks are gone. Daily Task rewards are now permanent, so skipping a day no longer resets your progress, and wherever your old streak sat is the day you resume from. The old streak rewards were converted into Prize Wheels, a case-style item that can roll Keys, Goodie Bags, Celestial wraps, Skin Tickets, or the Legendary Light Fifty skin for the Sniper. You can earn up to five Prize Wheels per week from Daily Tasks, and the Light Fifty can drop even if you do not own the Sniper.

The contracts menu also sorts by Near Completion, which sounds minor until you realize how much time it saves picking off almost-finished tasks. Ranked, meanwhile, is now locked behind stricter Roblox account verification and is region locked for matchmaking. If you lost access after the update, check your email, phone, or age verification status. Expect longer queues in some regions during quiet hours as the trade-off for better connections.
The Maul buff sits here rather than higher. Reach goes from 6 to 8 and slamming now triggers by holding the Ability input instead of timing a press, which is a real usability fix. It still is not enough to make the weapon a competitive pick.
C tier: Museum map changes and cosmetics
Museum now cycles through different times of day, including night and sunset, and its metal detectors actually work, buzzing when a player walks through one. That second detail is a small audio tell that can give away a rotation, though it is not reliable enough to build a strategy around.

Cosmetics are broad but non-functional. The Skin Cases pick up Plasma Wildcat, Starforge Permafrost, Starforge Maul, Thunderpike, Arcade Claw, Fishing Rod, Clown Hammer, Fork, Temporal Permafrost, Genie Lamp, Excalibur, and Plunger among others. The Legendary Key Bundle adds the Enerkey Pistols skin and the Ultra Key Bundle adds the Enerkey Rifle. Two limited wraps, Overseer and Splattered, sit on the Shop home page.
Bonus Tasks are slightly easier to finish but capped at three completions per day to shut down grinding loops, with the upside that task progress once again counts in Arcade Servers.
D tier: nerfs and firing mode changes with the least impact
The Crossbow and Sniper both moved from automatic to semi-automatic, so each shot needs its own click rather than a held button. Given how slowly both fire, this changes almost nothing about their output. It is a feel change more than a balance one.

The Burst Rifle’s burst cooldown rises from 0.07s to 0.08s. That is a hundredth of a second on a weapon that already sees limited play, and it is hard to read as anything other than a nudge in the wrong direction.
Bottom of the list is the Distortion, cut from 70 max ammo to 45. Spammability was the main reason to run it, so trimming the ammo pool removes the appeal without addressing anything players were complaining about.
Elsewhere in the patch, the Summer Event wrapped up with Pearls converted into Tropical Chests and its decorations removed, a new Career statistic shows the date you first played, and Private Servers gained a Queue Pad map-lock setting, a Freecam dropdown with Everyone, Server Owner, and Nobody modes, visible enemy ranks in Ranked duels, and Arcade Duels with the map pool restriction disabled. None of that moves the needle in a fight, but it is worth knowing where those toggles live.
