Community reaction to the patch was mixed, with a good chunk of players calling the numbers too small to matter. In practice the extra three points spread across five mutations compounds across a long session, because more of the fish you sell come out with a multiplier attached rather than at base value.
What the doubled Starfall bonus actually does
The rod’s Flurry of Stars passive drops stars during a catch, and each one pushes the progress bar forward. During a Starfall weather event the passive gets bonus stars on top of the normal count, and that bonus is what went from 3 to 6. More stars per activation means more forced progress, which is the whole reason this rod can handle progress-locked fish that stall other setups.
That matters most against boss-tier catches. Progress-locked fish drain the bar faster than you can fill it by reeling alone, so the rod’s forced-progress passives carry the catch. Doubling the Starfall bonus shortens those fights instead of leaving you waiting on lucky star timing.

None of the core stat block moved in the Version 2.0 pass. The rod is a Stage 10 limited rod originally sold by Astraeus for 50,000,000 C$ after his questline, and its stat profile sits very close to the Polaris Serenade.

On top of the raw stats, the rod carries two forced-progress passives. Roughly every 2.5 seconds it has a 10% chance to shove the progress bar forward by 25%, and a separate 10% chance to lock the bar and fill it to 100%. Flurry of Stars adds up to another 30% progress during normal use, with the extra Starfall stars stacking on that.
Note: the numbers shown in your inventory will not match the table above if you have enchantments, potions, or accessories active. Those modifiers are added on top of the base values and show as a separate bonus in the stat readout.
Money-making results with the buffed rod
A full farming run at Lilypad Garden under an Aurora Totem produced 149 fish that sold for 9,410,211 C$. The best pre-buff result on the same rod was 6,666,666 C$, so the higher mutation rates translated into roughly 2.7 million extra C$ across a single haul of similar length.
That result was not the rod on its own. The loadout stacked luck and weight modifiers on top of it, which is worth knowing before you treat 9.4 million as a baseline expectation.

Bait is swapped from the Baits tab inside the same menu you use for rods, so you can change it between runs without unequipping anything else.
Olympian Devil test: the buff against the hardest fish
The Olympian Devil is the toughest catch in the game and the clearest stress test for the rod’s forced-progress passives. Fought in the cave with the same loadout, the buffed rod landed a Shiny Giant Olympian Olympian Devil weighing 7,931,862.4 kg.
Running that fish through the Treasure Appraiser returned a 2.11x weight multiplier, bringing the final sale value to 5,869,588 C$. A single catch at that tier is worth more than half of the entire 149-fish farming haul.
How to get the Astraeus Serenade now
The original route is closed. Astraeus sold the rod for 50,000,000 C$ after you turned in his full item list, and that questline is no longer obtainable in the current version. The rod is now marked as a Limited journal entry.
The remaining path is the Wish of the Sky limited-time wish menu, where the Astraeus Serenade appears as one of the rods you can wish for. No official end date for that window is currently confirmed, so treat availability as temporary rather than permanent.
If you already own the rod, nothing needs to be claimed or re-equipped — the Version 2.0 rates apply automatically. The simplest way to confirm the buff is live is to fish through a Starfall and count the bonus stars during the Flurry of Stars passive; six extra stars means you are on the current balance pass.
Taken together, the changes keep the Astraeus Serenade competitive rather than pushing it back to the top of the pile. Its low resilience and 0.3 control are still the same weak points they always were, and enchantments remain the way to patch them. But the higher mutation floor makes every sale worth more on average, and the doubled Starfall bonus is a real difference on progress-locked fish, which is exactly where this rod was starting to feel slow.
