Enshrouded: How to Make a Torch (Recipe, Equip and Drop)

In Enshrouded, you can craft a Torch yourself without a crafting station. Open CRAFTING, select SUPPLIES, then choose Torch from the UTILITY row. The ingredients are 1 Twigs and 1 Plant Fiber; you may substitute Paper Reed for Plant Fiber. Learning both Twigs and Plant Fiber unlocks the recipe.
Quick answer: Press V, open SUPPLIES, select the Torch under UTILITY, and press SPACE once you have 1 Twigs and 1 Plant Fiber (or Paper Reed).

Its item card lists it as “One-Handed — Melee Weapon”, COMMON, at LEVEL 1 / 2.
Recipe: 1 Twigs and 1 Plant Fiber (Paper Reed works in place of Plant Fiber)
Where to craft: by hand, from CRAFTING (V) > SUPPLIES > UTILITY
Damage: 9 (BLUNT 4.5, FIRE 4.5)

The card’s description reads: “This basic torch provides light for a short amount of time. Watch your step when exploring caves with this!”
Press V to bring up CRAFTING, select SUPPLIES, then locate Torch under UTILITY. In the RECIPE tab, the RESOURCES entries show Twigs / 1 and Plant Fiber / 1. A missing ingredient appears in red (for example, 0 / 1), and SPACE Craft remains grey.

In the backpack, hold CTRL and click the Torch. If the action bar is already full, the footer shows “Target Full! Move: Action Bar <-> Backpack” and the Torch stays where it is.
With the action bar full, the new Torch goes into the backpack.
To free a slot, CTRL + click any item on the action bar to send it to the backpack, such as String. Then CTRL + click the Torch, and it moves into the open slot. Ours went to slot 6.
After the move, the Torch takes slot 6 and String goes to the backpack.
Close the menu and press the number key for the Torch’s slot. The Torch appears lit in your hand. The hint at the bottom of the screen reads “Torch”, with “Attack” on the left mouse button and “R Drop Item”.

Press R to drop the Torch. Ours landed on the ground and kept burning, so it still lit the grass around it. The slot it came from on the action bar is now empty.
Dropped on the ground, the Torch burns and lights the grass, leaving slot 6 empty.
