How to Get the 5th God Hand (Griffin) Unit in Anime Expeditions

The Redemption or Sacrifice quest, 150 Sacrificed Souls, and the five map orbs that turn Broken Falcon into a secret unit.

The 5th God Hand, better known in the community as the Griffin unit, is a secret evolution in Anime Expeditions that never shows up on a banner. You cannot summon it. It comes from an NPC hidden on a story map, a pile of souls farmed in a limited-time mode, and an evolution that eats one orb from every world in the game. As of UPD 2.5, the path is fixed and repeatable.

Quick answer: Talk to the Broken Falcon NPC inside Crimson Shore – Act 1 to accept “Redemption or Sacrifice” and receive the Broken Falcon unit, farm 150 Sacrificed Souls in any Eclipsed Infinite stage, return to the same NPC to claim the Eclipse Shard, then evolve Broken Falcon at the Evolve area using the shard plus the Crimson Shore, King’s Tomb, East Town, Rose Kingdom, and Flower Forest orbs.

Everything the 5th God Hand evolution requires

Gather the orbs before you start farming souls. They drop from their respective story worlds, and hunting five of them after the fact is what usually stalls people at the final screen.

Start the Redemption or Sacrifice quest in Crimson Shore

Open Story Mode from the lobby and load Crimson Shore – Act 1 on Normal difficulty. The NPC only appears in Act 1 of that world, so any other act is a wasted run.
Place a small defensive setup as soon as the match begins. A farm unit plus one or two damage units is enough to hold the lane while you look around, since the goal here is exploration, not a clean clear.
Walk the Crimson Shore map until you find the Broken Falcon NPC standing off the main path. Interact with him and accept “Redemption or Sacrifice”, also referred to in-game as Falcon’s Eclipse Quest.

Accepting the quest immediately drops the base Broken Falcon unit into your inventory. Check the Units menu to confirm it arrived before you leave the stage. If it is not there, the interaction did not register and you need to speak to the NPC again.

Farm 150 Sacrificed Souls in Eclipsed Infinite

Souls only come from Eclipsed Infinite, a variant that spawns at random on the story map and stays available for 30 minutes before disappearing. Watch the story screen for it, and when it shows up, commit to it. There is no alternate source and no way to force a spawn.

Load the active Eclipsed Infinite stage. School Grounds – Eclipsed Infinite on Hard is a common pick because the lane layout is forgiving, but any Eclipsed Infinite map awards the same currency.
Clear waves until you end the run. Each completed stage pays out 10x Sacrificed Souls on the Victory screen, which means 15 clears to reach the 150/150 requirement.

Note: the counter shows as Redeemed Soul or Sacrificed Soul depending on the screen, but it is the same 150-item requirement. Track it in your inventory rather than counting clears by memory.

Trade for the Eclipse Shard and evolve Broken Falcon

Load back into Crimson Shore – Act 1 and return to the Broken Falcon NPC. With 150 souls banked, the interaction changes and hands over the Eclipse Shard instead of repeating the quest offer.
Go to the Evolve area in the lobby and select Broken Falcon. The requirement list will show the Eclipse Shard alongside the five world orbs, with any missing item greyed out.
Confirm the evolution. Broken Falcon is consumed and replaced by 5th God Hand, which then appears in your Units list as a separate entry with its own passives and stat block.

If the evolve button stays locked, the cause is almost always one of three things. You are missing one of the five orbs, you never claimed the Eclipse Shard because you left the map before the trade completed, or you are looking at a duplicate Broken Falcon that was never tied to the quest.

5th God Hand stats and passive abilities

Out of the box the unit is slow. At level 80 with SSS stat potentials and no trait, it sits at 1,438 damage, a 9.7 second SPA, and 22.3 range. The payoff is in the passive chain, which converts survivors into a scaling damage buff rather than relying on attack frequency.

PassiveWhat it does
Eclipse DistortionEvery third regular attack places a Distortion on the target for 10 seconds. Enemies that walk in stop moving, take 50% of the unit’s current damage, and vanish from the map for 2 seconds on a 10-second cooldown.
CausalityEnemies that survive Distortion damage are inflicted with Causality and add 1 to the Fated Meter, which caps at 35. Each enemy in range carrying Mark Of Fate raises damage by 8% and range by 2.5%, and Causality-inflicted enemies take 20% more damage from this unit.
EclipseDistortion damage rises by 5% per Fated Meter stack. All enemies in range take 100% of the unit’s current damage, then the Fated Meter resets to 0 after 4 seconds.

Fully upgraded in-game at level 80 with SSS potentials and the Unbound trait, the unit reaches 60,137 damage, 28.2 range, and 6,536.6 DPS on a 9.2 second attack cycle. The long SPA is the trade-off, so it wants a lane where enemies bunch up inside the Distortion rather than a single-target boss check.

Rolling the 0.1% Unbound trait

Unbound is the rarest trait tier in the game and it is what turns this unit from usable to dominant. It grants a 350% damage increase, a 5% SPA reduction, and a 10% range increase, but it only applies to a single placement. On a level 80 SSS 5th God Hand, that shifts the base numbers from 1.43K damage to 6,441, with SPA dropping to 9.2 seconds and range rising to 24.5.

TraitRoll chance
Unbound0.1%
Primordial0.1%
Forsaken0.3%
Draconic0.3%
Strength 27%

Rerolls run on Trait Crystals, and there is a pity system, so hoarding crystals before you evolve is the practical approach. Daily and weekly challenges, the Gold Shop, the Expedition Shop, the Quest Board, and both weekly Raid Shops all sell or award crystals, and recycling unwanted Shiny units through the Shiny Transfer machine returns rerolls on the spot. Active codes are the fastest one-time bulk source.

Tip: do the stat potential work first. Rolling and transferring damage, SPA, and range potentials onto the unit before you burn crystals means the trait multiplier lands on the best possible base numbers.

Once 5th God Hand is equipped, an Infinite stage such as Rose Kingdom is the cleanest way to confirm everything landed. Watch for the Distortion marker appearing on every third attack and the Fated Meter climbing as enemies survive it. If those two things are happening, the evolution and the passive chain are working as intended, and the only variable left is how much you invested in traits and potentials.
