Gears in Build a Golem are consumable boosts you apply to your Golems to speed up mining, hit harder, or skip recharge downtime. You buy them from the Gear Shop in your base using in-game Cash, and each one carries a rarity that sets its price, its effect, and how often it appears in stock.
Quick answer: Open the Gear Shop in your base and buy the Gear you want while it is in stock. Stock rotates every five minutes, so common items are almost always available while high-rarity ones show up rarely.

The Gear Shop sits in your home base and only sells Gears that are currently in stock. Its inventory refreshes once every five minutes, so if the Gear you want is not listed, wait for the next rotation and check again.
Rarity controls how likely a Gear is to appear. Common Gears are cheap and nearly always available, but their boosts are small and short. Higher rarities carry far stronger effects and much longer durations, yet they cost significantly more and rarely show up in stock, so buying them takes both saved Cash and patience.
Tip: Low-rarity Gears are ideal early on. The Common and Uncommon options are affordable and stack up quickly, keeping your Golems producing more Cash while you build toward the pricier tiers.

Which Gear is the strongest
The Prismatic Mutation Shard is the most valuable Gear in the game. Unlike every other option, its effect does not expire. It permanently applies a random Mutation to the entire Golem, which is why it sits at the top of the price scale at 1 trillion Cash.
For repeatable mining boosts, the Prismatic Oil Can and Prismatic Power Cell deliver the biggest temporary gains, each quadrupling Mining Speed or Damage for two hours. Reaching that point takes deep endgame Cash reserves, but Build a Golem stays fully playable to the endgame without spending on premium features, so you can work up to these Gears through mining alone.
