Blueberries are the first real stamina food most Vikings run into, and they are locked behind exactly one biome. You cannot plant them, you cannot buy them, and there is no seed for them anywhere in the game. Picking is the only option, so the real skill is knowing where the bushes cluster and how to keep coming back to the same patch.
Quick answer: Walk into any Black Forest biome, look for waist-high bushes covered in small blue berries, and press the interact key on each one. Every successful pick shows “Added Blueberries x1” in the corner of the screen.
Where blueberry bushes spawn
Blueberry bushes only grow in the Black Forest, the dark pine biome that borders the Meadows where you start. They will never appear in the Meadows, the Plains, or anywhere else, so if you are still in your starting biome you have not gone far enough yet. Head for the tree line where the ground turns dark and the pines get tall.

Inside the biome, bushes tend to show up in clumps rather than one at a time, often on slopes and in clearings between the pines. Barrels sitting outside Greydwarf spawner towers can also hold blueberries, though that is a bonus rather than a reliable supply. The bushes themselves are the source you should plan around.
Note: Greydwarfs patrol constantly here, and Trolls wander in too. Bring a weapon you can actually swing, and treat berry runs as a trip into hostile territory rather than a stroll.

You will know it worked immediately. The pickup message reads “Added Blueberries x1” and the counter climbs with each bush, and the first bunch also fires off unlock notifications for the Queen’s Jam recipe along with the Blue Banner and Purple Banner build pieces.
Bush regrowth and why you should not destroy them
A picked bush refills on its own after roughly five hours, which is a bit over two in-game weeks. A destroyed bush is gone permanently. There is no seed, no cultivator option, and no way to replant berries, so every bush you flatten with a swing or a stray troll fight is one less spot on your map forever.
The practical takeaway is to keep your weapon sheathed while you are harvesting, and to be careful about fighting inside a good patch. Some players go further and fence off a dense cluster with a portal nearby, turning it into a semi-permanent supply stop.

Blueberry food stats
Eaten raw, blueberries are a stamina food with a small health bump attached. Right-click them in your inventory and the buff icon appears with a timer, and you can eat another bunch once that timer drops below the halfway mark.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Max Health | +8 |
| Max Stamina | +25 |
| Regeneration | 1 HP per tick |
| Duration | 10 minutes |
| Weight / stack | 0.1 / 50 |
| Teleportable | Yes |

What blueberries are used for
Raw berries are the least efficient way to spend them. Cooked and fermented recipes stretch the same stack much further, and several banners need berries as dye. Quantities below are per craft at base quality.
| Recipe | Blueberries | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Queen’s Jam x4 | 6 | Food |
| Muckshake | 2 | Food |
| Deer Stew | 1 | Food |
| Pancakes | 2 | Food |
| Pulled Bear | 1 | Food |
| Mead Base: Minor Healing | 5 | Mead |
| Mead Base: Tasty | 5 | Mead |
| Mead base: Ratatosk | 10 | Mead |
| Blue Banner | 4 | Building |
| Purple Banner | 2 | Building |
| Blue, Red and White Banner | 2 | Building |
| White and Blue Striped Banner | 2 | Building |
| Blue Fireworks | 1 | Building |
| Patterns of the Bear | 4 | Crafting |
| Loincloth of the Bear | 4 | Crafting |
Queen’s Jam is the usual first target, since it combines 6 blueberries with 8 raspberries and yields four portions that beat raw berries on every stat. The Minor Healing mead base is the other early priority, because that is your first real healing potion.
Taming boars with blueberries
Blueberries also work as boar food. Pen a boar behind a fence, back off until it stops being aggressive, then throw berries into the pen from just outside. Yellow hearts above the animal mean the taming process has started, and three berries are enough to see it through if you stay nearby and out of reach.
Setting up a repeatable picking route
Because bushes refill instead of being farmed, the efficient play is a loop rather than a single expedition. Mark every dense patch you find, drop a portal roughly in the middle of a group of markers, and sprint between them with stamina food active. Come back once the regrowth window has passed and repeat.
Mushrooms and thistle grow in the same biome, so a Black Forest route can collect all three in one trip. That is usually enough to keep a chest stocked without ever making a dedicated berry run again.
Blueberries fall off as a primary food once you reach the Swamp and beyond, but the meads and banners they feed into keep mattering long after that. Stockpiling a chest of them early, while the Black Forest is still somewhere you visit regularly, saves a lot of backtracking later.
