Head to the shipwright area at Moosewood and open the Boats menu. Any boat gets you there, but a fast one saves real time on repeat trips — the Nateboard runs at 2315 speed compared to the Jetski’s 1005.

Spawn the boat and drive west across the Ocean until the Roslit Bay label appears on screen. The trip is short and needs no quest unlocks or diving gear.

Once you land, walk to the shallow coral reef water rather than fishing off the open ocean side. You will see labelled fish zones floating in the water here, including Clownfish, Blue Tang, Angelfish, and Nurse Shark, which confirms you are standing on the reef pool and not the wider bay.

Open your Fishing Rods menu and equip a high-tier rod. The Sovereign works well for this catch, with 100% Lure Speed, 100% Luck, and no max weight cap, so nothing about the fish’s size can break the reel.

Why the Reef Triggerfish is not biting

There are only a handful of reasons this fails, and none of them require a complicated fix.

You are casting somewhere other than Roslit Bay. The fish does not spawn at other islands, and the Grand Reef nearby is a separate location with its own fish list.
You are on the Roslit Bay coastline but not on the coral reef water. Move to the reef pool where the labelled fish zones appear.
The season is not Spring or the weather is not clear. Use a Sundial Totem to move the cycle along instead of waiting.
You have the wrong bait loaded. Seaweed needs to be equipped on the rod you are actively casting with.
Everything is correct and it still has not appeared. At a 1.22% rate, a run of common catches in between is normal — keep casting.

Once the conditions are stacked, there is nothing clever left to do. Park on the reef, keep Seaweed on the line, and farm it out until the Bestiary entry fills in.
