Genshin Impact Version 7.1, “A Rekviem for the Underworld,” continues the Snezhnaya Archon Quest and doubles as the game’s sixth anniversary celebration. It brings two new 5-star characters, a fresh Archon Quest, a new weekly boss, several limited-time events, and one of the most generous reward lineups the game has offered.

Maintenance begins at the same moment worldwide and runs for about five hours. Once it ends, the update is live and you can log back in to claim rewards and pull on the new banners.

Sixth anniversary rewards and free 5-star selectors
The anniversary spreads its currency across a check-in event and in-game mail. Between them you receive 20 pulls: 10 Intertwined Fate from the check-in and 1,600 Primogems delivered by mail.

- In-game mail: 1,600 Primogems, 2 Fragile Resin, 1 Sanctifying Elixir, 1 Mini Trolley Problem gadget, and the Conductor of the “Ya-Ho” pet.
Two separate free 5-star selectors are the headline gifts. The standard selector lets you pick one character from the standard pool: Jean, Diluc, Qiqi, Mona, Tighnari, Keqing, Dehya, and Yumemizuki Mizuki. The limited selector lets you choose one of Baizhu, Nilou, Varesa, Tartaglia, Chiori, or Clorinde.
The free limited 5-star can only be claimed after you finish the Version 7.1 Archon Quest, and you can make that choice at any point during the version.
New characters and banner schedule
Vesna and Vodyanitsa debut in the first half, both built around Stellar Swirl reactions. Skirk and Escoffier rerun in the second half.

Vesna is a 5-star Anemo sword user and on-field DPS, and the youngest Commander in Druzhna history. She converts Cryo Swirl reactions into Stellar Swirl, summons Spirit Blades, and builds “Sword Essence” that she spends to command those blades. Strikes made near a Stellar Vortex count as Stellar Swirl reaction damage. As a Vila, she can also take flight while exploring.
Vodyanitsa is a 5-star Hydro catalyst user and the Prima Donna of Snezhnograd’s Korolevskiy Troupe. Her Elemental Skill turns her into a Water Imp who sustains a song that heals the active character, boosts their ATK, and lowers enemy Hydro and Cryo resistance. Her song also empowers Stellar Vortices, reducing enemy Anemo resistance and raising Stellar Swirl reaction damage.
Three new weapons arrive alongside them. Beyond the Chrysalis is a 5-star sword, Hymn of the Maelstrom is a 5-star catalyst suited to Vodyanitsa, and Silver Light is a 4-star sword earned through the flagship event rather than a banner.
Livestream redemption codes
Three codes were shared during the special program, each granting 100 Primogems. They expire on September 15, 2026 at 12:00 AM (UTC-4), so redeem them before the deadline.

Archon Quest, weekly boss, and new world boss
The story picks up with Chapter 7’s Act 3, White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking, followed by Act 4, A Rekviem for the Underworld. You finally meet the Tsaritsa and learn the strategy behind her years of collecting the Gnoses, then head to the front lines to fight alongside Snezhnaya against Ronova, the Ruler of Death. Completing the Archon Quest within the version grants extra rewards, including Primogems.
Ronova becomes a new weekly boss after the quest, letting you confront her repeatedly. A new world boss, the Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow, is added in Snezhnaya and drops Vesna’s ascension materials. Starting this version, the Tsaritsa’s Confidential Secretary also issues special assignments as the Traveler takes on a consultant role in her court.
Events running during Version 7.1
The flagship event, Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon, is the return of the Moonchase Festival to Liyue after five years, set at Yilong Wharf with three new mini-games inspired by Liyue thaumaturges. Finishing it rewards the 4-star Silver Light sword along with Primogems and materials.
