EA Sports FC 27 reshapes how Football Ultimate Team rewards your time, from the packs you open to the coins you earn after every match. The Launch Update sets the tone for the opening seasons, with changes built around three ideas: more say in how you build a squad, player items that stay useful for longer, and matches that always move your Club forward.
Quick answer: FC 27 shifts Ultimate Team toward tradeable rewards, higher per-match FUT Coins and Season Points, fewer and smaller campaigns, and a simplified Rare-free pack system, starting from early access on 17–18 September.

Post-match rewards get a major boost. In FC 26, a finished match paid roughly 500 to 600 FUT Coins. In FC 27 that figure is being multiplied across all key modes, though the exact amounts have not been confirmed.
You will also earn between 15 and 100 Season Points per eligible match, depending on the result and the mode, accumulating up to 850 SP per day. That daily cap means you no longer have to wait until the final weeks of a season to unlock the best ladder rewards.
Rivals, Champions, and Squad Battles all deliver improved match rewards, and Squad Battles can now grant Champions Qualification Points. The Division 6 requirement for auto-qualification has been removed.

More tradeable rewards and Transfer Market flexibility
A significantly higher share of rewards across Objectives, game modes, and other areas of FUT will be tradeable this year. More tradeable items and coins give you extra freedom on the Transfer Market, whether you bid on players, feed Evolutions, buy into the Premium Pass, or save toward a target later in the season.
Store content is also being scaled back. From launch there will be fewer promotional pack offers and lower user limits on certain offers, keeping playing the game as the main way to build your Club.
Champions Tokens return
The token system introduced in FUT 26 carries over. Champions Tokens let you pick from different reward options each week based on what your Club needs. The Champions Token Store stocks Champions-specific rewards, including Team of the Week players with the exclusive Red item design, Evolutions, and vanity items such as Celebrations.
Community voting for Team of the Week
During Season 1, the community helps decide one player item in each of the first six Team of the Week squads. Every player in the FC 27 Ratings Database is eligible for votes, and the selected item carries a Community Player marker in-game.
A new voting period opens each Tuesday. You can vote for one player per week and change your selection any time before voting closes on Monday at 11:59pm PT, and you must be logged in to your EA Account to confirm a vote. Voting happens in the FC 27 Ratings Database.

Pack and rarity changes
FC 27 removes the distinction between Common and Rare players. Bronze, Silver, and Gold items are now classified simply by their metal, with no Common or Rare split. As a result, packs no longer state a minimum number of Rare items.
Despite the change, the pack-opening experience is meant to stay consistent year over year. For packs that previously guaranteed Rare players, the chance of pulling a base player item at OVR 82 and below is intended to match FC 26. Pack naming is also standardized, with size terms indicating how many items each contains.
| Pack size | Items |
|---|---|
| Mini | 3 |
| Small | 6 |
| Large | 9 |
| Jumbo | 24 |
| Giant | 32 |
Quick Sell values are being reworked to fit the new system. Player item Quick Sell values will line up more closely with previous Rare player values, while non-player items get more consistent values across rarities.

Player items that last longer
EA is slowing the upgrade curve so cards stay viable throughout the season, regardless of where they came from. The maximum number of PlayStyles+ drops from five to three, and attribute increases between campaigns are being reduced.
To keep those cards flexible, all Campaign player items launch with every one of their position’s Roles++ already unlocked, which makes fitting them into different formations easier.
Campaigns themselves are tighter this year, with fewer promos overall — around 15 across the game’s lifetime, down five from FC 26. Campaign squads are smaller with a closer spread of attributes. The first campaign after early access, Destined for Glory (releasing 25 September), features 15 players per weekly release, compared with 20 last year, and a minimum overall of 85, up from 83.
Destined for Glory is built from the most popular players voted in the FC 26 and FC 27 ratings databases, and those items can be upgraded based on 2026/27 performances.
| Position group | Condition | Upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| Attackers / Midfielders | 3 goals or assists | +1 Shooting & Passing |
| Attackers / Midfielders | 6 goals or assists | +1 Regular PS |
| Attackers / Midfielders | 10 goals or assists | +1 OVR |
| Attackers / Midfielders | 20 goals or assists | +1 OVR |
| Defensive Mids / Defenders | 2 clean sheets | +1 Defending & Physical |
| Defensive Mids / Defenders | 4 clean sheets | +1 Regular PS |
| Defensive Mids / Defenders | 6 clean sheets | +1 OVR |
| Defensive Mids / Defenders | 10 clean sheets | +1 OVR |

Chemistry and Icons
Icon and Hero chemistry contributions have been reduced. Both now provide only +1 League and +1 Nation to teammates. All base Icons also carry a minimum rating of 88 OVR.
New ways to earn and use items
Multiple building paths are meant to work together in FC 27. SBCs, Evolutions, mode rewards, and the Transfer Market each offer worthwhile upgrades, so you can stick to the parts of Ultimate Team you enjoy and still progress. Evolutions add branching Pathways and an Evolution Chain Preview to help plan upgrade routes before committing.
Live Events return with offline variants this year, giving a wider range of ways to play. Alongside the new FUT Gallery, Holographic items, streamlined SBCs, and The Grounds, the season structure spans Ones to Watch and other content across the opening months.
Taken together, these changes push FC 27 toward a steadier, more player-driven Ultimate Team, where the matches you play and the rewards you trade carry more weight than short-lived promo cards.
