The motorcycle chase in Marvel’s Wolverine drops Logan into Tokyo with no transport, no allies, and a telepathic distress call in his head. It begins in the wreckage of a downed aircraft and ends with a burning tanker truck, and almost everything in between is spent on a stolen bike being hunted by ninjas of the Hand. Insomniac Games’ sequence mixes driving, light combat, and a couple of button prompts, and it doubles as the game’s introduction to Jean Grey.
Quick answer: It is a scripted motorcycle chase through Tokyo. Steer with the left stick, hold R2 to accelerate, L2 to brake, and press Square for Claw Attack to knock Hand riders off their bikes.
How the bike chase starts: plane crash to stolen motorcycle
The scene opens on a masked Hand telepath speaking into Logan’s mind with a single line, “Tell the Beast the Hand is ready, Shinigami.” A trophy notification for Crash Course pops up at the same moment, which is the first sign the crash itself is the scripted trigger and not a failure state.
Logan wakes inside a burning cockpit, pulls a length of metal pipe out of his chest, and heals on the spot before climbing out onto the fuselage. His destination is Kabukicho, and he works out quickly that walking is not an option once he spots traffic on the overpass above.
A red-clad Hand rider passes on a motorcycle, and Logan ambushes him, throws him off, and takes the bike. From there the sequence hands control back to you and the pursuit begins, with the rest of the clan shouting after him as he merges onto the highway heading toward Shiodome.

The on-screen prompts appear the first time Hand riders pull alongside you on the highway. The control set is small, and it stays the same for the rest of the sequence.
| Action | Input |
|---|---|
| Claw Attack | Square |
| Steer | Left stick |
| Accelerate | R2 |
| Brake | L2 |
| Close-quarters slam | Triangle (quick-time prompt) |
Claw Attack is the only offensive option, and it is used to slash at riders who draw level with you, knocking them off their bikes. Successful takedowns feed small experience rewards, with +30 XP popups appearing as you clear pursuers. A health bar sits in the top left corner throughout.

The Triangle prompt only shows up when a rider is pressed right against you, and it plays out as a slam rather than a standard slash.
The route through Tokyo, segment by segment
The chase moves through five distinct environments, and each one changes what you are dodging rather than what you are pressing.
| Segment | What happens |
|---|---|
| Elevated highway | Wet night ride toward Shiodome; first Hand riders attack |
| Exit ramp | Bike launches off the highway to street level |
| Tunnel | Driving against oncoming traffic while fighting |
| Shopping arcade | Ride up a pedestrian bridge, dodge civilians, crash through glass |
| Narrow streets | Final pursuit before the tanker |
The tunnel is the tightest stretch, since you are weaving through cars coming the other way while riders stay on your back. The mall section ends with a drop down a flight of stairs through a window, and it is the only part where civilians are actively in your path.

Jean Grey’s telepathic calls and the Jetlag objective
Jean Grey contacts Logan mid-ride and explains she is a telepath, which is how the two of them talk for the rest of the chase. She asks who the masked figure was and what a Shinigami is, and Logan answers that it means the God of Death.
Her situation gets worse as you ride. She tells Logan the Hand has found her, he tells her to fight and improvise, and her side of the conversation breaks into pained screams. After one of those cuts, the screen briefly goes black and the objective Jetlag – Fight off the Hand appears on screen, which is the formal name the game gives the encounter.
Logan is heading to Kabukicho the whole time, and he asks Jean to stay there. The telepathic exchanges are dialogue only, so they do not change what you press or add an extra prompt.
How the chase ends: the tanker explosion and the bike swap
With riders still on him in the narrow streets, Logan drops the bike into a slide and goes under a large tanker truck. The sparks from the slide ignite the tanker, and the explosion throws him clear while destroying the remaining Hand motorcycles behind him. That blast is what closes out the sequence.
Logan heals off the burns and gets back up, then walks over to a motorcycle parked nearby. He pulls the keys out of the ignition, hands them to the confused construction worker who owns it with the line “For the trouble,” and rides away as the worker’s bike falls apart behind him.

Everything above comes from an early build of the game rather than a finished release, so button prompts, XP values, and the exact objective wording could all shift before launch. The shape of the sequence is clear enough, though: a straightforward driving section with one attack button, a single quick-time input, and a set of Tokyo backdrops that change every thirty seconds or so.
