Marvel’s Wolverine: How to Get the That’s Cheating Trophy

Break every claw machine in the Kabukicho arcade during In the Shadows to free the stuffed animals and unlock the bronze.

The That’s Cheating trophy is one of the smaller collectible-style unlocks on the road to the Platinum in Marvel’s Wolverine. It has nothing to do with winning a prize the honest way. Instead, Logan frees the stuffed animals by wrecking the claw machines themselves, and the whole thing plays out in a single arcade room in Kabukicho.

Quick answer: During the In the Shadows mission in Japan, reveal the arcade’s hidden back room, then destroy all 11 claw machines on the arcade floor with melee attacks to pop the bronze trophy.

Requirements and where it happens

The trophy is tied to a specific point in the campaign, so you do not need to hunt across regions to find it. Everything you need is inside the arcade you reach during the In the Shadows mission in Japan.

  • Mission: In the Shadows (Japan)
  • Requirement: free the stuffed animals from the claw machines
  • Machines to destroy: 11 across the arcade floor
  • Trophy tier: Bronze
  • Missable: No, it can be replayed after the story

When you first walk into the arcade, the claw machines cannot be destroyed yet. The machines only become breakable after you have found and investigated the hidden back room, which pushes the mission forward.

How to free the stuffed animals in the Kabukicho arcade

Enter the arcade during In the Shadows and head to the machine at the back of the room. Interact with it to reveal the hidden room behind the arcade floor.

Investigate the objects inside the hidden room. Keep interacting until the mission advances and the arcade fight begins.
When you re-enter the arcade, deal with the Hand enemies that appear. You can start breaking machines during the fight, but clearing the enemies first makes it easier to move around freely.
Use normal melee attacks to smash every claw machine on the floor. There are 11 in total, so sweep the whole room and watch for the stuffed animals to spill out of each one.

Only the claw machines count. Breaking other cabinets and scenery around them does nothing for the trophy, so target the toy-grabber machines specifically and confirm each one is actually destroyed.

How to know it worked

The That’s Cheating bronze trophy pops the moment all 11 claw machines in that arcade are destroyed. Contextual unlocks like this sometimes wait for the final destruction animation to finish before the notification shows, so give it a second after the last machine breaks.

If the fight ends and the trophy has not appeared, look around before leaving. A single intact machine is easy to miss behind glass, lights, and combat debris that can make a damaged cabinet look already finished. Break the survivor and the trophy should register.

Cleaning it up if you missed it

Nothing here is permanently lost. If you moved past the arcade without breaking every machine, you can return through Mission Replay using the bed in the Nightmare Cabin and select In the Shadows (Japan).

Once you are back in the mission, head straight to the arcade, trigger the hidden room, and repeat the room carefully. Because it is a short, self-contained sequence, this is a quick cleanup rather than a reason to start Marvel’s Wolverine over from the beginning.
