How to Craft Every New Resource in RuneScape: Dragonwilds (Scorned Wilderness)

Every new processed material from the Scorned Wilderness raid, with its station, inputs, and what each one unlocks.

Every new processed material from the Scorned Wilderness raid, with its station, inputs, and what each one unlocks.

The Scorned Wilderness raid drops a fresh layer of crafting inputs on top of everything you already refine in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, and almost none of it is intuitive. Runite and Luminite come out of deposits, but the good stuff — the cloth, the leather, the wax — comes from raid drops that only make sense once you know which station eats them. Eight new processed materials sit at the end of that chain, and three of them gate gear you cannot build any other way.

Quick answer: Grind Rune Essence and Dragon Tooth at the Grindstone first, then fire Discordant Residue in the Kiln for Harmonised Compound. That single material gates Vis Fibres, Draconic Vis Wax, and Vis Cloth.

Ground Rune Essence shows up in four of those eight recipes, so treat it as your bottleneck rather than an afterthought. Every Rune Essence you walk past is a Vis Cloth you do not get to make later.

Where Scorned Wilderness raw materials drop

The raw inputs are not parked at fixed nodes you can farm on a loop. Scorned Wilderness resources drop broadly across the raid itself, so the gathering happens while you clear, not on a dedicated run afterwards. The exceptions are the ore deposits, which behave like normal mining nodes.

  • Runite Deposit and Luminite Deposit — the two mining nodes feeding Rune Bars.
  • Discordant Residue, Dragon Tooth, Dragon Blood, and Black Dragon Hide — raid drops.
  • Salvage Hotspots and Sanguine Urns — scattered lootable points throughout the zone.
  • Magic, Ash, and Oak Trees, plus standard farm plants, for anything wood or food related.

Entry to the Scorned Wilderness requires completing the quest Icthlarin’s Little Helper first. Nothing below is craftable until you can actually get inside.

Smelt Rune Bars at the Blast Furnace

Rune Bars are the simplest new recipe and the only one that behaves like a normal smithing step. Mine both deposit types, bring fuel, and the Blast Furnace handles the rest.

Mine Runite Ore and Luminite Ore from their deposits inside the raid. You need both — Runite alone will not fill the recipe.
Open the Blast Furnace and load Runite Ore, Luminite Ore, and a Fuel Pellet into the input slots. Select Rune Bar from the recipe list.
Start the smelt. The station shows a ready state before it begins, so if nothing happens, one of the three inputs is missing rather than the recipe being locked.

Grind Rune Essence and Dragon Tooth first

Both powders come from the Grindstone, take a single ingredient each, and feed almost everything else. Doing them before you touch the Kiln saves a lot of walking between stations.

  • Rune Essence → Ground Rune Essence. Used in Vis Fibres, Draconic Vis Wax, and Black Dragon Leather.
  • Dragon Tooth → Ground Dragon Tooth. Used only in Draconic Vis Wax.

Fire Discordant Residue into Harmonised Compound at the Kiln

This is the gate. Discordant Residue is a raid drop, and the Kiln converts it into Harmonised Compound with no other ingredients involved. Producing it for the first time unlocks the Advanced Spinning Wheel, which you need for the entire cloth line.

Walk up to the Kiln, load the residue, and trigger the Craft prompt. If the Advanced Spinning Wheel is still missing from your build menu afterwards, you have not actually completed a Harmonised Compound craft — queuing one is not the same as finishing it.

Build Vis Cloth for the Ancestral set

Vis Cloth is the deepest chain in the update, running through three separate stations before the Loom finishes it. Every ingredient traces back to Harmonised Compound and Ground Rune Essence, so stock both heavily before starting.

At the Advanced Spinning Wheel, combine Harmonised Compound with Ground Rune Essence to spin Vis Fibres. This station only exists after your first Harmonised Compound craft.
Move to the Brewing Cauldron and brew Draconic Vis Wax from Harmonised Compound, Ground Rune Essence, and Ground Dragon Tooth. This is the only recipe that consumes Ground Dragon Tooth.
Take the Vis Fibres and Draconic Vis Wax to the Loom and craft Vis Cloth. Finishing it unlocks the Ancestral set.

Tan Black Dragon Leather for the Rune Shield

Black Dragon Leather sits outside the cloth chain entirely and does not need Harmonised Compound. Feed Black Dragon Hide, Dragon Blood, and Ground Rune Essence into the Advanced Tannery, and the finished leather unlocks the Rune Shield recipe.

Hide and blood both come off black dragons, so bank them together during a clear rather than making a second trip for one or the other.

How to confirm each craft worked

Three of the eight materials change something visible outside your inventory, which is the fastest way to check your progress without counting items.

Material craftedWhat it unlocks
Harmonised CompoundAdvanced Spinning Wheel
Black Dragon LeatherRune Shield
Vis ClothAncestral set

For the remaining five, the confirmation is simply the finished item landing in the station’s output slot. Rune Bars, both ground powders, Vis Fibres, and Draconic Vis Wax carry no unlock of their own — they exist purely as inputs further down the chain.

What crafting cannot get you in the raid

The unique weapons, armour pieces, and staves tied to the Scorned Wilderness are not craftable at any station. They drop randomly from the raid’s boss encounter with Kuldra, which means repeat clears are the only route to them regardless of how much Vis Cloth you have sitting in storage.

That split is worth planning around. Crafting covers your baseline — Rune Bars, the Rune Shield, the Ancestral set — while the standout pieces stay behind a drop table. Refine what you can between runs so that when a good roll finally lands, you are not short a Harmonised Compound to actually wear it.
