Fortnite: How to Get the Pixel Sprite Trainer Back Bling for Free

Extract 30 Sprites of any level or rarity across Battle Royale or Zero Build matches to claim the reward.

The Pixel Sprite Trainer is a retro-styled Back Bling added in the 42.20 update, and it turns your Sprite collection into a display piece you can show off during a match. Getting it is free for every player, and the unlock is tied to one simple action rather than mastery or wins. Here is exactly what triggers it and how to reach the milestone fast.

Quick answer: Extract a total of 30 Sprites across Battle Royale or Zero Build matches. Any level and any rarity counts, and duplicates count too.

Extract 30 Sprites: what counts toward the quest

The Pixel Trainer Quest counts successful extractions, not sprite variety. Finding a Sprite or carrying it around does nothing on its own. The extraction has to finish before you are eliminated for the total to move.

  • You need 30 completed extractions, not 30 different Sprites.
  • Sprites at any level qualify, so you do not need to Master them first.
  • Any rarity works, including rare ones like Klombo and Crown.
  • Duplicates you already own still add to the count.
  • Both Battle Royale and Zero Build matches count.

The extraction condition still applies even after you gain Mastery. Leveling a Sprite and fulfilling the Back Bling milestone are distinct systems: that milestone counts only the Sprites you bank.

Fastest way to bank 30 Sprites

Since duplicates and low-level Sprites count, prioritize safe, quick extractions over hunting rare variants. A common Sprite you bank in seconds is worth more here than a rare one you carry across the map and then lose in a fight.

Drop into a match and grab any Sprites you find. You can reasonably collect 7–12 in a single game, so a handful of rounds will finish the quest.
An active Extraction Site or a Portable Extractor is required; remain there until extraction finishes before proceeding. With a friend beside you, each match can yield and safeguard many more Sprites.
Repeat until your quest tracker reaches 30. The Sprite Dust you earn along the way isn’t wasted, as it can be spent on unlocking and upgrading Loot Hacks.

How to confirm the Back Bling unlocked

Check the Quests tab and look for the Pixel Sprite Trainer line reading 30/30. When the final extraction lands, the quest completes and a reward screen shows the Pixel Sprite Trainer equipped. After that it sits in your Locker, ready to select like any other Back Bling.

Unlock display styles by Mastering Sprites

Owning the Back Bling is only the first half. To actually show a Sprite on it, that Sprite must be Mastered. Styles unlock when a Sprite hits level 5 and is then extracted for the first time, which cuts its Sprite Dust summon cost and adds it as a selectable style. If you haven’t Mastered anything yet, the Onigiri Sprite is easy to find and quick to level.

Most Sprites gain XP from opening containers, getting eliminations, and extracting other Sprites, including duplicates. A few level differently:

Sprite typeHow it levels
Most SpritesOpening containers, eliminations, extracting Sprites
KlomboUsing consumables like Med-Kits, Shield Potions, Chug Jugs
CrownWinning a match with it equipped
Bounty HunterEliminations only (except Klombo and Crown variants)

Sprite XP is doubled during Mastery Monday, so that window is the fastest time to push Sprites to level 5. You can also skip the grind by extracting an already-Mastered level 5 Sprite dropped by another player, which Masters it for you. The Adventure Sprite is the exception, since it extracts itself and resets to level 1.

Once you’ve banked your 30 Sprites and Mastered a few favorites, the Pixel Sprite Trainer becomes a running showcase of your collection. If you want an extra reward on top, work through the Geno Story Quests, which unlock an exclusive style for the skin.
