Mariana’s Awakening in Fisch: Event Window and Leaked Areas

The Obsidian Trench event runs from September 19 to September 21, with leaked caverns, a new creature model, and a reworked Mariana's Veil.

The Obsidian Trench event runs from September 19 to September 21, with leaked caverns, a new creature model, and a reworked Mariana’s Veil.

Fisch is about to reopen its deepest area. Mariana’s Awakening is listed on Roblox as a weekend event for Fisch 📜 [JOURNAL], carrying the subtitle The Obsidian Trench, and it lines up with the roadmap slot that described a rework of Mariana’s Veil rather than a brand-new island. Leaked images from the development Discord point to fresh caverns, a new creature, and a reason to take the Submarine back down.

Quick answer: Mariana’s Awakening runs Sat, Sep 19, 4:00 PM to Mon, Sep 21, 11:00 AM as listed on its Roblox event page, and it reworks the existing Mariana’s Veil cave system.

Mariana’s Awakening event window and listing details

The event has its own Roblox listing, hosted by the Fisching group, with a Notify Me button and a running interest count. Everything below is taken straight from that listing.

That is a short window by Fisch standards, closer to a weekend drop than a month-long seasonal event. The Halloween event, FischFright 3, sits separately on the calendar with a much longer run.

What Mariana’s Awakening changes in Mariana’s Veil

Mariana’s Veil is already one of the largest areas in Fisch. It is a cave system stretching more than 12,000 studs below Roslit Bay and the First Sea, and most of it can only be reached in a Submarine. Without one, water pressure kills you instantly, and the Glimmerfin Suit does not help because it only protects against temperature.

The roadmap entry for Mariana’s Awakening described a redo of that area with new content placed inside it, rather than a separate location bolted on elsewhere. The five existing sublocations are the ones most likely to be touched:

  • Volcanic Vents, the first layer, gated behind the Submarine Heat Upgrade
  • Challenger’s Deep, the ice-themed layer beneath it
  • Abyssal Zenith, which contains Hawaii and the Astral Cavern
  • Calm Zone, the quiet stretch deeper in the system
  • Veil of the Forsaken, the final area and the only place Scylla Hunts occur

Each layer is sealed by rocks that only break once the layer above is completed, so progression order still matters even if the art and content around it change.

Leaked caverns, creatures, and rods

New cavern environments

A batch of development screenshots shows six Mariana-themed caverns in different styles. There are crystal caves lit in pink and purple, molten volcanic chambers, and icy caverns. The mix suggests the rework keeps the existing hot-to-cold layer structure while rebuilding how each stretch looks.

The creature mouth model

Developer sn0w shared a grayscale 3D render of a circular mouth lined with concentric rings of pointed teeth. It is an untextured asset with no name attached, so its role is unconfirmed, but the scale and shape read as a large creature rather than a standard catchable fish.

Pluto’s crystal cave

Developer Pluto posted a dark cavern packed with glowing purple crystal formations and lightning effects. The frame also includes the silhouette of the “him” fish placeholder, the stand-in model used during development before a real asset is dropped in.

The segmented red rod

One more leak is worth flagging without over-reading it. A glowing red fishing rod appeared with a segmented, centipede-like body, spikes, and glowing nodes along its length, with a top section shaped like a head or figure. It has been tied to a new hunt, but nothing official connects it to the Obsidian Trench specifically.

Where Mariana’s Awakening sits in the Fisch update tiers

Fisch groups its releases into three broad categories. Major updates serve as headline expansions, bringing new locations and systems. Big updates introduce substantial content but are not presented as expansions. Filler updates are smaller additions released on weekends, including masteries or migration-style content.

Updates are classified as major, big, or filler while Sunstone Island remains visible. Shown at 05:42 in Carbon Meister Plays’s video.

That tiering matters because a two-day event window does not automatically mean a small patch. Mariana’s Awakening reworks an existing region, which sits between a full new-island release and a weekend filler drop.

FischFright 3 is listed as a limited Halloween event and has already been teased with a new Nessie variant. Developers nicholas and sn0w have also discussed weekend admin events and adjustments to how codes are handed out, both of which are separate from the Obsidian Trench content itself.

How to catch the event when it goes live

Open the Fisch 📜 [JOURNAL] experience page and hit Notify Me on the Mariana’s Awakening listing. Roblox will push a reminder to your account when the window opens.
Build or restore your Submarine before the event starts. Talk to Dr Glimmerfin at the Submarine Depot on the north-western side of Roslit Bay, at coordinates -1305, 130, 310, to get the Drill and start the build.
Collect the five submarine parts. You need Windows, Submarine Top, Side Fins, Metal Panels, and Back Fins, then return them to the depot. The code TemporarySubmarine redeems the parts directly instead of drilling for them.
Confirm the parts worked. Handing in all five triggers a cutscene that clears the magma beneath the coral reef and unlocks the Submarine as a spawnable boat. If the Submarine appears in your boat list, you are ready to descend.

The entrance to the cave system sits below the reef at Roslit Bay, and the Volcanic Vents opening is at -2745, -2325, 865. Getting that far ahead of time saves you the setup grind during a two-day window.

Beyond the listed dates and the leaked art, specifics like new fish, rods, or rewards have not been detailed publicly. The safest read right now is that Mariana’s Veil is getting rebuilt rather than replaced, and that anyone who already has a Submarine and the Heat Upgrade will be able to see it the moment the window opens.
