The newest layer in Steal An Egg hides behind a portal in the Abyss Ocean biome, where a scientist named Dr. Scramble has set up a laboratory full of escaped experiments. The whole system runs on a new currency called Samples, which you farm by fighting drones during a timed event and then spend on a mutation that can be stamped onto an egg before it hatches.

Where to find Dr. Scramble’s lab in Abyss Ocean
Run the normal track order out of the safe zone — Lake, Desert, Jungle, Volcano, then Abyss Ocean — and look for the Secret Cave entrance once you reach the Abyss Ocean section. Stepping into the portal drops you inside the laboratory.
Inside you will find the new machine, the Scrambled Experiment NPC, and the quest board tied to the Stolen Experiment Vault. Nothing here is on a timer, so you can walk in, talk to the NPC and walk back out to the race track without losing progress.
How to farm Samples during the Dr. Scramble Experiment event
The event announces itself with a green grid effect washing over the map. Once it starts, floating Dr. Scramble Experiment drones spawn along the track through every biome section, each with its own HP bar.
Swing your sword at the drones until they pop. Each kill drops Samples, and the payouts are uneven — small drones hand over single-digit and low double-digit amounts like +7, +14 and +15, while tougher ones can pay out +44 in one go. Because the drones are spread across the whole route, the efficient play is to sprint outward and clear them as you pass rather than camping one biome.
A single event window can bank well over 2,000 Samples if you keep moving through every biome section instead of fighting in place.
Drone Parts, Lost Parts and the Stolen Experiment Vault
Samples are not the only thing drones drop. Occasionally a kill triggers a DRONE PART FOUND! banner on screen, and your counter ticks up toward 3. Those parts feed the vault quest rather than the shop.
Talk to the Scrambled Experiment NPC in the cave to open the Stolen Experiment Vault interface, which tracks two separate requirements side by side: Lost Parts out of 2, and Drone Parts out of 3. Drone Parts only come from event combat. Lost Parts are scattered around the biomes themselves, so they need a sweep of the map rather than a fight.

When the event ends and you are back in the safe zone, open Dr Scramble’s Experiments. This is the only place Samples can be spent, and stock covers a mutation, two pets and three boosts.

Mutations stack in your inventory, so buying several in one visit is fine — you will want spares, because applying one does not always land on the first attempt.

What the 375-Sample Speed and treadmill boosts do
The 1.25x Speed boost is the most immediately useful thing in the shop. With it running, guarded nests that were borderline become reliable — the Angels boss can be outrun while hauling a large egg back to the pen, and steals that previously ended in a catch go through.
The Treadmill Booster is the long-game purchase. It doubles treadmill speed, so stepping on with it active stacks the multiplier far faster than a normal training session. Spend on it when you are grinding toward the next biome gate rather than when you are mid-steal.
Hungry Monster chests give you the same boosts for free
Two of the three boosts in Dr Scramble’s shop also drop out of the Hungry Monster event, which still sits near the safe zone. You feed it parasite-infested eggs found from the Snow biome onward — each one glows purple and fills the meter by 20%. At 100%, the monster coughs up a Monster Chest.

The Flyswatter is the rare weapon roll at 5%, and it comes in at Epic rarity with a heavy knockback effect that works on other players. The Monstrous Egg at 1.5% is the genuine chase result.
Because the chest odds lean heavily toward 1.25X Egg Growth, most feeding cycles end in a growth boost rather than the weapon or the egg. That makes the Samples shop the more reliable route when you specifically need Speed or treadmill uptime, and the monster the better use of infested eggs you find on the way past anyway.
Speed gates still decide which eggs you can mutate
A Scrambled mutation is only as good as the egg you put it on, and the highest-value nests sit behind hard Speed walls. Titan Temple opens at roughly 7 billion Speed with the Gorilla King on guard, and the Angels and Demons biome asks for about 20 billion before its guardian stops catching you on the way out.
If you are short of either number, the sensible order is to bank Samples on Treadmill Boosters first, push your Speed, and save the mutation stock for once you can reliably steal an Eternal or Divine-tier egg. Mutating a mid-tier hatch works, but the payoff scales with what was in the egg to begin with.
